i have two balck tetras and they have both just been stuck in the same place all day. normally they swim around but since 9am this morning they have just been staying in the same place. they are alive cos they are swimming. one is at one end of the tank near the top of the water and the other is at the other end near the bottom of the tank. any ideas as to what is wrong with them?

Make sure there is nothing wrong with the pump (make sure it's supplying plenty of oxygen), or see if there are any white spots on the fish as it's a well known fish disease. Pop into your local pet store and ask for advice.

You should definitely check the filter. If there is dirty water in the tank, it would definitely harm the fish. There Is also a chance that the two fish may not be getting along.

most fish regard tetras as food.
if you have any fish larger than 5cm then that might be the problem.
either keep your tetras and get rid of the other fish or keep the other fish and get rid of tetras.
and your tank might be overcrowded.
please be more specific about your tank next time.
good luck.

Sounds like stress and bullying to me. You don't say what else is in the tank, but I would be another fish in the tank is picking on them and they are trying to hide.

do you have a heater for your tank? it might be too cold for them and they might have just found a warm spot
