We recently purchased a reef package from www.saltwaterfish.com for our 90gal. saltwater tank that included 20 Scarlet Hermit Crabs, 20 Blueleg Hermit Crabs, 10 Nasssarius Snails, 20 Turbo/Astrea Snails, 5 Emerald Crabs, 1 Sally Lightfoot Crab, 1 Coral Banded Shrimp, and 2 Cleaner Clams. We added 2 clownfish and a lawnmower blenny at the same time... this was about 3 weeks ago. Today, I looked in the tank and there was a baby crab kindof whitish looking about the size of my pinky nail crawling out of an occupied Turbo snail shell! My question is, what is the reproduction cycle of an Emerald crab? Should I be on the lookout for more babies or is my little cutie a hitch-hiker?

I have a male and female convict cichlids and they have laid eggs a few times, but the male won't fertilize the eggs. I have searched around a few forums and info on the net and tried those suggested: water changes, food changes, places to hide, and temperature change but no luck. Has anyone had similar problems with their fish or are mine just duds? Thanx....please answers only ...sarcasm bores me.

I've had this fish for about 2 1/2 or 3 yrs now. when i first got him he was about a 1/2 inch long, he is now about 3 inches long.
he is a pale yellowish white with black stripes. i don't remember the name that the guy at the pet store gave me (it was almost 3 years ago) but i think it had peacock in the name somewhere.
he also said that the males are usually more yellowish while the females are more white.
just wondering, because i would like to put more fish in with him. he is alone in a 10gal. tank, and i would like to add at least 2 more fish, but he is very agressive and has killed everything i've put in there so far. just want to know what this fish IS and what types of other fish would be able to hold their own in a tank with this guy..who's name is Killer (for obvious reasons lol).

thanks!

I am talking about 55, 75, or 100 gallon tanks here. Is it safe? Can the floor structure support the weight of the full tank?

I have a 20 gallon freshwater aquarium. The odor seems stronger then normal. I have had fish tanks in the past and they have not smelled as bad.

Sometimes I can smell the odor of the tank when I walk into the door. You can also sometimes smell it as you walk past.

The tank is cleaned every 2 weeks with a filter change. There is no algae. No missing fish. Can anyone give me advice on how to reduce or eliminate the foul odor? Thanks in advance.

I WILL CHOOSE BEST ANSWER VERY SOON!

I have a male betta in a 10-gallon tank with 6 neon tetras. They've been in the tank together for about 3 weeks now. Water is changed 50% weekly, with last water change 2 days ago (Friday). He's still swimming and eating normally, but his fins are...well, for lack of a better term, frayed. Not like nipped at the ends or fin rot, but they're starting to look like fringe from his body all the way out. What is going on here? Do we need to get him a small tank all his own? Are the tetras ganging up on him while we're not looking? Is he stressed out? HELP!

I have a 36 gal Via Aqua tank with a male and female Convicts, yellow lab, and kuhli loach. The female has laid her eggs a few times, but they have not been fertilized. The male guards the eggs continuously. I tried water changes, temp adjustments, and different types of food but no luck. What else should I do?

Naladixic Acid is a gram negative antibacterial medication that can sometimes work for treating Neon Tetra Disease in tropical aquariums. Aquarium Pharmaceuticals used to sell Nala Gram which used Naladixic Acid as it's active ingredient, but it appears that they've discontinued it.

I'd prefer a product that just had Naladixic Acid as it's active ingredient over a pure concentrate of it.

Thank you!

Why do you have to wait 24-48 hours before adding fish to your tank? Once you have the filter and chemicals in the tank properly and it's had a good 12 or so hours to circulate- why are you not supposed to go ahead and add the fish?

I am already aware of how to properly care for the pregnant fish and what to do when the fry are born, but I'm wondering. Are there any visible signs right before the fish gives birth? Any certain behavior such as going to a certain part of the tank and just staying there, or going into the foilage? Also, are the fry visible as they are comming out, or are they far too small to even see?

Also, the male swordtail has been following the pregnant female around non-stop. Is there any reason for that?

I just bought a new 10gallon starter kit from walmart this morning. Everything is working fine and I'll probably get the fish tomorrow. However, how many fish will I be able to get and should I make this tank a tropical fish tank or a goldfish tank? I'm a beginner at this
