We recently purchased a reef package from www.saltwaterfish.com for our 90gal. saltwater tank that included 20 Scarlet Hermit Crabs, 20 Blueleg Hermit Crabs, 10 Nasssarius Snails, 20 Turbo/Astrea Snails, 5 Emerald Crabs, 1 Sally Lightfoot Crab, 1 Coral Banded Shrimp, and 2 Cleaner Clams. We added 2 clownfish and a lawnmower blenny at the same time... this was about 3 weeks ago. Today, I looked in the tank and there was a baby crab kindof whitish looking about the size of my pinky nail crawling out of an occupied Turbo snail shell! My question is, what is the reproduction cycle of an Emerald crab? Should I be on the lookout for more babies or is my little cutie a hitch-hiker?

Before I added them, all I had was 2 damsels I had in there to cycle my tank. (I previously had an aggressive tank and after my porcupine puffer died because my angelfish kept picking at it leaving raw flesh I sold my fish and decided to start a reef tank)

My little buddy is just the first that I have seen... There may be more inside of my live rock... and one of my emerald crabs has been M.I.A. for a couple of days... but i know it isn't dead because my shrimp usually finds all the dead inverts and drags them out

That little fellow is a hitch-hicker. Most likely one of the species you already have in your tank, but watching him grow should be lots of fun.

i do not extremely see why it may reason a lot difficulty see you later as you've a sturdy rockscape for them to have their personal area interior of both gallon tank. Niether of them are aggressive extremely. The crabs are typically superb without the anemone yet a pom pom crab without that is anemone is kinda valueless. they have been wide-spread to apply mushrooms, zoas and different corals even as their anemone isn't accessible. be particular to note what the sex of the crab is once you get it that you'll get it a mate later in case you pick to. sturdy luck on the pom pom crab. the in common words time I ever see mine is late at evening even as the light fixtures are out. some thing of the time that is hiding. a extra perfect determination of crab can be a Porcelain crab and some mushrooms for it to live on. you should attempt slicing lower back on water alterations except your only extremely sturdy at doing them so as that no longer some thing receives disturbed.

Likely a hitch hiker or there would be hundreds of them.
