The leaves grew back but very slowly. The color of the leaves went from dark green to a light green with a yellowish hint. The back of the leave had a slight hint of white. Could this be caused by having too much light for my plants?

I have the meanie fish in the only seperate tank I have. I realize now I made a big mistake in buying them.

From what I can see, I have two options. I can use aquarium salt or I can use Melafix (sp?).. Can I use either of these while my injured fish is in the 40 gal with my other fish? How long will he take to heal with either product?

I have recently started my aquarium but have found it difficult mixing fish as some are compatible and some are not. There are very aggressive fish out there but don't know which one's to avoid and which one's are ok as a community. What are the top 10 fish to avoid purchasing?

I have a black moore who is injured (scratch on his skin by his eyeball and his tail is getting feathered).. I think it is my tiger barbs who are doing this to him. They are in a 40 gal. tank. I have a 10 gallon tank that I am getting ready for seperation. Should I pull the two barbs out and let him heal in the big tank --- or should I pull him out and let him heal in the 10 gallon tank?

I just read, "This colorful barb is frequently chosen for a community tank, unfortunately they are not an ideal choice for all aquariums. When kept singly or in groups of two three, they will terrorize almost any fish that is unfortunate enough to reside in the same tank. Yet if they are kept in groups of a half dozen or more, they will usually keep their quarrelling to themselves.
Regardless of the numbers kept, it is never advisable to keep Tigers in the same tank with docile, slow moving, or long finned fish."

What should I do??? And HOW do I help him heal??

I would like to get a fishtank and a cool, aggressive, fish. i don't have a lot of room in my dorm, an i'm not loaded w/ money so at best i could probably do a 55 gallon tank. is there anyway that i could possibly fit a freshwater barracuda in it. if that wont work what are some other cool fish of that sort. i was also thinking about piranas, freshwater puffers, maybe even a freshwater stingray. still i think i would best prefer the barracuda, but size is an issue.

I have a platy which stays still just wagging its tail and head. I assume its pregnant. Is my assumption right? It is being harrassed by two other platies. Should I isolate this platy in a corner of the tank so that it is left alone and the future baby fishes can easily be protected? If I do this it will put some stress on the platy. Is this the right action to take?

I recently was given a 6ft 125 gallon aquarium and can't get the glass to clear up. I work in a scientific setting and have access to strong acids and the protective equipment/training to use them and have tried the following.

*Using vinegar - gallons of it with the aquarium on its side.
*1 gal of 12 Molar hydrochloric acid mixed 1 with 1 gal of distilled water with the aquarium on its side, let is set for hours then up righted it and filled with water let it set for weekend.
*Used over the counter lime remover.
* razor blade/nylon sponge scraping.

All of these have done NOTHING
Don't know what else to try and I am starting to think the guy that gave it to me frosted the glass somehow. But the marks are very stratified and suggest typical stains left by evaporation.

I know it will take months of water changes/rinses/carbon to get this thing safe so don't give answers based on how dangerous this it to the fish. I'm willing to take the time to clean it back to "safe"

I had a red molly, she was pregnant when I got her. She had about 10 babies, afterwards her belly turned white and she was acting strange, like staying in one spot, kinda hovering. The next morning she was dead. My guppy had babies on same day, about 20 babies, but she is doing fine! What happened to my molly?

I have 2 tanks with filters on them a 29 gallon and 120 gallon tank. I know that stores tell you to make sure to change out the sponges about monthly and the carbon and all the other stuff they want to sell us to make them money. I obviously don't trust them completely since there goal is money money money. So my question is how often do you really have to change it? I have heard to just rince out sponges in tank water when doing water changes, but how often for that one and do they have to be replaced or just keep going until they have a little damage then replace? I know that pre-filter is permanent, but what about biomax rings and carbon. How often should they be rinces/washed/changed for best results.

I know I am pretty bad about working on the filters since I can never manage to keep the water off the ground. I have an ancient Fluval 203 and a brand new Fluval FX5 (A huge overkill in my opinion but we couldn't find a different filter that would fit on the rim of the tank.)

I have a ten gallon aquarium and I wonder if their food supply is being depleted as they eat algae. I do not have any live plants in the aquarium. Would this help? I really don't think that the guppies are eating them. All I wind up with is empty shells. Please help.

Hi. First of all, I do realize this was preventable and completely my fault so please don't answer to criticize.

I moved my two betas into the kitchen on Saturday so that I could clean their bowls. I put them on the table and went into the pantry to get the water. While I was in the pantry, my two year old reached up and pulled one of them off of the table. The bowl broke and the fish went flying. I, immediately, grabbed my son and put him in the living room (he was okay) while my husband grabbed poor Walley (the beta) and put him in a cup of water. After cleaning up the mess, I put Walley in a bigger bowl w/ some clean spring water (he was in tap water for a few minutes while we cleaned up the mess). I took the bowl and put it in a quiet room in the house w/ a towel around the bowl. I tried to feed him but he didn't eat. He appears to be okay, just very much in shock. Is there hope for him (this was 2 days ago); is there anything I can do to make him more comfortable?

I know it should be straightforward enough, but I'm really worried there wont be enough oxygen in the bowl for two little fish. It's a 6 litre bowl. Also, has anybody used and can tell me if those oxygenating tablets are any good?

More than once in recent days, I've seen on the news, a story and video about, fish that have had, hearts, dots, and stripes tattooed on them. I don't agree with that at all.

Fish, are colorful enough without that being done to them. And - how do they do that, to the fish anyway?
