So, I change the water and put a air tube in there. But, he doesn't seem to get better. He doesn't move around a lot. It looks like he's sleeping and when he hits the air tube he seems in a second to wake up. And I checked in my beta book and there no disease for that.

I have seen hobby-fish shops in eastern India, but they are horrible, with low or no stocks either of fish or other accessories. What about shops in Mumbai or Delhi...anyone any idea ? Are there any importers in India ?

I've had a pleco in my 20 gallon tank for 2-3 weeks. He was doing fine at first. Today I realized I hadn't seen him in a few days. I found him hiding in one of my plants (all fake). His belly was severely sunken in and when I poked him with the net he didn't move. I thought he was dead so I scooped him up and held him in the net. He didn't move, then weakly flicked his tail and tried to swim away. He made it the few inches to the glass and was able to suction to it, but only for a few seconds. Then he fell on his back and remained upside down until I righted him with the net.

There's algae in the tank (on plants, glass, etc) and I also feed algae discs every few days. I put a disc in the tank right next to him just now, but he wouldn't go near it. I even placed him ON the disc. He still wouldn't eat.

I suspect he's a goner...but if not, what can I do? Also, what may have caused him to stop eating so that, if he does die, I don't have the same problem with a new pleco?

developed 'ich' and to prevent this from 'exploding' in the tank to everyone else..I treated the tank with malachite green and formalin-raised the temp to 84 degrees..during the treatment another of the clown loaches got ich..and I had to do partial water changes after 3 day..as the first one still had it...and redo the whole treatment a second time..I have since done a substantial water change and am using charcoal to try and get the tank back to it['s good condition. I have gradually drop the temp to 78 deg Everything is going fine.except the loach that was originally ill. He was never as strong as the rest( probably why he got ill in the first place.). He tries to interact with the other loaches and does so intermittently..but spends much time on his own sleeping beside the heater...He has a good appetite-have been feeding him flake food, freeze dried shrimp, and freeze/d blood worms...but he is still very thin..Can I do anything else to get him to gain weight and be more healthy?

I have recently purchased a 55 gallon acrylic fish tank. It it a tropical (about 77 deg. F), freshwater tank, with adequate filtration and lighting. I have 2 (about four inches) tinfoil barbs (the biggest fish in the tank), 3 Clown Loaches, 2 Three-spotted Gouramis, 3 Feeder fish, 1 plecostamus, 2 Giant Zebra Danios, 1 Chinese algae Eater, 2 Angelfish, and 2 Cory Catfish. I also have an African Ciclid that is yellow and black, who is less than two inches long. He seems to be rehabilitated, and is nonviolent, with the exception of being an aggressive eater. I know how many rules of good tank-keeping I have broken already (such as don't keep goldfish in a tropical tank), but I have a question. What fish will work well with these? I have plenty of plants for hiding, and I don't need any more agressive fish. I wanted a dwarf puffer, but they are aggressive, or maybe an elephant nose. So the two questions are:
1) What fish should I get (Or not get)?
2) What should I feed them?

Thanks!

I have a 15 gal. (plastic) aquarium, I wanted to purchase two Convict Cichlid, just researced them online and found out you have to keep the water temp. at 76-80 degrees.
I was looking at heaters in the pet store, and was not sure if I should buy one because I have a plastic aquarium.

Can you put a heater in a plastic aquarium???

This morning I found a thin, milky-colored slime that covered the surface of the water in my 10 gal. tank. When I touched it with the fish net, it gathered up into a little slimeball. Gross! So then I scooped it with a cup and poured it down the drain. Anyone have an idea what it was? I clean the tank regularly and my fish are doing fine. If you know what it is, what's wrong with my tank?

I started injecting one of my tanks with diy co2 this week and there is a thin translucent white film forming on the top of the water. Is there anything I can do about that, or is it normal? Is it from the reduced surface agigation, or some chemical reaction from the co2?

I was thinking of getting kribenisis fish. I have a heavially planted 55 gal tank for them. How many do you think I can fit in there?

Also, how many firemouth cichlids do you think I could fit in there?

I was considering german blue rams, but i'm afraid the ph may go too low for them (6.7).

My mollys have recently had fry, and I was wondering. How long does it take for the fry to develop enough so that the other fish will not eat them? I currently have the fry in a tank all their own, and all the adult fish in another. Is this alright?

EACH tank contains the following, 1 male betta, heater(water temp is 80 for a 10 gal,80 for the 5 gal, and 76 degrees F for the other 10 gal,) natural colored fish gravel, filter, 3 silk plants( ones in 10 gallons are medium sized, ones in 5 are small) hideouts(2 in 10 gallon, 3 in the other 10, 1 in the 5). What would be good fish to put in with my boys? Please give me lists of fish and how many of each, thanks!!!!!

I recently introduced some potted plants into the tank, and one of the fish managed to get stuck in the pot (the pot has bars on it, sort of like a grill). I managed to free it, but it's tail looks ragged, and it's side fins are torn. The left one is torn quite short. It's also scraped on the back. It's swimming quite erratically, but managing to swim... what should I do? Is it in pain? How can I help it? Do i need to separate it from the other fish? I don't want it to die!

I got 2 medium sized Pink Kissing Gourami. The bigger one started swiming really fast around the tank, jumping into the air like it's trying to escape. Then it will just float there like it's dead, not really moving or anything. I'll nudge at it with the net thinking it's dead and the cycle will start again. Is it sick? What's wrong?
