Lifespan ranges. But I have a pair of silver dollars that I have had for 14 years and going strong!

That's actually a practically impossible question to answer. First, most aquarium fish usually die of a disease before they die of old age, sometimes without the owner knowing. Second, the life span of many of these fish have not been studied in any type of controlled academic environment and life spans often reported are based purely on hobbyist observations. That being said, typically you can expect most fish to live at least 3-4 years. As a wide general rule, the larger the species the longer it's life span. One notable exception in catfish which live longer than similarly size fish from other families. In a healthy environment 4-5 years would be a realistic expectation for the fish you have listed.

The lifespan of your fish is going to depend on your fish husbandry skills. That's the practical lifespan of any fish held in captivity for ornamental reasons. I would just concentrate on providing them a good environment. If you can, I believe most fish can live for many years. The killer of captive fish is usually other aggressive captive fish or nitrogenous poison in the tank.

depends on the kind of fish. as a rule your small community fish i.e guppy, platty n so fourth will probably only live 2 to 3 years, whereas if you specialise in a certain species then they will live longer as you can create an environment especially for that species in your tank.
