I breed convicts and supply local fish stores. They are ready to breed, females do turn colors under there bellys. Just provide good water quality and they will pop out babies once a month.

I agree with the above... I used to breed convicts as well and yeah- once they get started breeding they will have babies often and in large amounts. You will obviously need to make sure the take is clean, ph is good- all the normal stuff, but I found just slightly overfeeding them made for easier breeding. Good to make sure your female population outnumbers the males as well. I've actually had some VERY small convicts breed. Just be prepared when they do breed and have a breeding tank ready. with just 4 adults you shouldnt have to worry as much about the fry being eaten, but better to be safe.

They will need to grow out to about 2.5" before they will be ready to breed s some of yours are really close. How long that takes depends partly on you. Keep up good water changes, keep the tank clean and feed a wide variety of quality foods will help them to grow more quickly and be more healthy.

It's impossible to say how long it will be before they breed, they will decide that when they are ready.

actaully my convicts were about 1-1/2 inches not including the tail and they breed , and yes if they have orange on there belly it is a female, but beware they breed like crazy.

it somewhat is powerful American and you're marvelous. African species choose a lots extra good water on an identical time as powerful and S. American choose a comfortable water. on an identical time as you could improve powerful and S. American fish in tense water (mine is 8.a million) particularly convicts, it somewhat is not their suited ecosystem. Shortens their lives and the possibilities of breeding to a typical length is small.

Another thing you shoud consider. Is your temperature right? PH level? Also, I am assuming you didnt get pairs from the same litter, incest will prevent them from breeding. Also, have they broke off into pairs yet? When you notice the pairs start defending eachother this means they are showing loyalty to one another, and they are ready to reproduce.
