This is very difficult to pinpoint based on this description. While cichlids are usually the yellowest of tropicals, there are none I can see that are marked exactly as you've described. Take a look at the different fish on this site. These are all the tropical fish typically kept. It should be on here.

Could be a keyhole cichlid??? Hard to tell without actually seeing it.
If you email a picture I'll try and tell you.
And as for the below comment, you are mostly correct, but you can keep some cichlids in community tanks, allbeit only certain sorts. The vast majority of Malawi and Tanganyikan cichlids are far too aggressive. But Rams, kribensis etc.. are all perfectly compatible with most community fish

i would maybe agree with cichlid due to the yellow. but guppies also come in yellow. depends on body shape etc... you must find what they are as cichlids need extra care and higher temps... and guppies have live babies so go back to the shop and find out then you can prepare. Cichlids cannot be in a community tank.

how could you have bought something and not know what they were? Did the shop not have signs on the tank saying what species they are? Didn't you think to ask? How will you know how to care for them if you don't know what they are?
