Look. If God didn't want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?

Hi there: Is you question for real?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just cannot imagine eating a pet fish for starters. Just the fact that these fish are in a man made pond suggests to me that there just may be germs, etc. that would not be found in the wild. I certainly would not take a chance. I know I would be sick to my stomach knowing I am eating such a lovely fish that I have spent so many hours admiring. NO law against it, to each his own. Good Luck. Please let us know what you have done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quite aside from the fact that you would be really stupid to eat a pet that would have considerable value, in money if no other way, Koi is a carp, and carp are among the worst fish to eat, as they have more bones than most any other fish and the meat is not good in any case.

There are many species, and many get very big, and they are easily caught, so a novice fisherman is tempted to try and eat them. They would only do so a second time if they were absolutely starving.

Koi pellets/kibble really are all your koi need. Feed a good quality food (someone mentioned Hikari, which is good, or I also like Aquatic Gold). Peas really aren't all that nutritious - they act more as a laxative than anything else. However, for treats you can try orange slices, watermelon chunks, spinach leaves, fresh or frozen brine shrimp or krill, blood worms, even Cheerios or bits of wheat bread or pizza crust! I have fed my koi all of these as treats at one time or another, but their koi kibble is what they like best, and what they do best on....

Screw PETA
there is NO ethical difference between eating tuna or salmon and eating koi.

The flavor and quality as food is the only issue here... I say give it a whirl if you want. But you may want to have a plan B for dinner.

Who was it that said release them to the ocean?... THAT is the idiot here... Why don't you just release them to the sidewalk?

Koi are symbols of Luck and Prosperity, do you REALLY want to Kill it. it would pretty much kill all YOUR lick and prosperity to do so. to each his own, i guess, but lame place to ask that question were all fish lovers here, as in the PET kind were all going to by annoyed with your question

Its dangerous to eat ornamental fish because of the chemicals in the water we keep them in. Carp species don't taste good though. Seriously, who eats carp?
