I was just wondering because I have a 5 gallon tank that is being unused, if there isn't then I will leave it unused. Just wondering because I have a 10 gallon tank that I want to concentrate on so I would like something low maintenance for my smaller tank. Thanks.

I bought a new goldfish. He was born with no dorsal fin. He swims around okay. Kind of waddles a bit compared to other goldfish but seems fine. His tail fins are very flat and short and his body and head have a slightly different shape to other goldfish.

Does anyone know if his life expectancy will be same as other goldfish? and does anyone know if having no dorsal fin may have changed his body shape and tail fin to accommodate having no dorsal fin so that he can swim better?

Thank you!

Then how do they remember where to feed? Anyone who has kept fish would know that as soon as you open the can of food they go straight to the same spot and wait for it so how can it be said that they only have a 30 sec memory?

So i went to the pet store with my cousin and i saw this sad little female betta in this tiny cup, and i thought: "poor fish, that's no place to live!!!" Sooo i bought the betta kit sold at the store, it's a 1/2 gallon tank (link provided below)... but now i'm reading about bettas and it states she needs a FIVE gallon tank... so if i keep her in her current tank, will she die? Or if i keep cleaning her water twice a week... will she live a healthy life? I bought her BettaMin tropical fish food, and she seems to enjoy it. I guess i wanted to give her a better life than she had at the store, but it seems im not properly taking care of her... i cant afford to buy a 5 gal tank nor do i have the time to clean it. Can you suggest something i should do to prolong her life or make it more comfy in her tank?

ps: im buying a thermometer so i can keep the temperature above 78 degrees, just like it should be.

My betta is changing color's. It's red and at the tail it's turning blue.
Is that normal for a betta to do?

I left my room for 2 hours and when I got back the female was at the bottom of her breeding net without moving at all and the male was right under the female but he was face upward and without moving or reacting! So I thought: Ok, they are dead... when suddenly the female starts to swim, then I guessed that only the male was dead and when I removed the net to grab the male he suddenly began to swim... normally, even to bother the female (his usual behavior). What were my guppies doing? I guess they were sleeping...

We had a large tropical tank with, 1 angel,2 silver sharks, and some neon tetras and 1 bloodfin tetra as the other bloodfins comitted suicide about 1 1/2 years ago. our filtration broke down about 8mths ago and we gave all the fish to the local aquarium. 6 months later a baby bloodfin appeared, nobody can explain it, he was about 1/2 cm long, he is in a small tank now with filtration and has grown to full size. No other fish have appeared and we were stunned to find that one, Nobody can tell us how it happened. Please explain if possible.
