In my experience B&Q is better. I bought a sander in Homebase and after supplying me with the wrong sandpaper for it on 2 seperate occassions they fineally came clean and siad they didn't stock the paper that fitted it!
Wicks is also quite good and on some things cheaper than both B&Q and Homebase.
I wouldn't recommend you buy fish from any DIY store though!

B&Q tends to be cheaper than homebase, and bigger, but Homebase has more decorative type things, rahter than just the functional stuff. Go to Screwfix though if you want bargain, we got some drill part there, it was £6 somthing, compared to £20 in B&Q!

After doing up my house I would have to say B&Q - a lot more choice and cost effective...I see Homebase as the 'posher' version of B&Q!

It's either of the two as the difference between them is negligible. What i'm after is my time.
