I have Swordtails and Mollies and 1 femaile guppy in the same tank. The swordtail had babies a few months ago and now they are bigger and some of the swordtails look alot like mollies now. Is that possible? The one guppy is now pregnant, how is that possible?

I recently changed my filter system and water in my tank (55 gallon) about a week ago.Of course all the fish died off due to the ammonia levels but my algae eater survived and is doing well.My question is, what can I buy or should I buy to treat the water so it is safe for new fish? And does the algae eater make bacteria colonies necessary for the tank? Thank you.

In our garden pond we have some Goldfish, ghost carp and small koi. One of the fish, a silvery blue with golden head does not seem healthy. We have had this particular one for about two years. he is on his side quite a bit (at this time of year the fish are not so energetic anyway) and when he swims seems to be leaning to one side a bit too. has been like this for a couple of months. Thought was on his way out, but still there. Any ideas on what is wrong, if it is terminal, and of course if it is something which can affect the other fish. Ta.

I want an Aquarium, a rather small one but definately not tiny, i would like about 5 small fish in there, i would prefer salt water, but is salt water a lot of work over a fresh water aquarium? i know a pretty good amount about fish so i would not be irresponsible, but i want to know if it is a LOT of work. I have basketball practice Tuesdays & Thursdays, from 6-7, and Games for 1 hour either Saturday or Sunday. I am at school every day Monday-Friday for i think 6 or 8 hours. And i do like to have a lot of free time, but i would be willing to give it up for a fish tank. Also, when basketball is over, i am in another program year round every Tuesday and Thursday from 7-8. I have a fair amount of homework only about 40 minutes max. Please tell me if i will have enough time to take care of a fish aquarium and whether i should choose a saltwater tank or freshwater, which is easiest? thank you. ♥

I found a female flower horn at local store that's insanely aggressive. It trys to attack me through the glass every time I visit the store. Its like this every time I visit. Its about 6 or 7 inches. She's been there forever & she's $180, though they seem open to negotiating the price down to around $140. I'd like to haver her as the only fish in my 55 or wide 36 gal corner but I think it may be too small of a tank. It doesn't look like she's been growing much. They're keeping her in like a 15 gal tank which seems way too small.

I just recently started a brand new saltwater tank. When do you recommend I get a molly to bacterialize my tank? The salinity is perfect and all the strips show good. I plan on adding my bagged sand and fake coral next week. What other actions should I take before adding any "dummy" fish? Please help, give me as much knowledge as you can share. Thanks a bunch.

I just recently set up a new saltwater tank. The tank has running filter and correct salinity. How long should I let it sit before I can think about adding fish. I want a clown fish with just a few crabs and other inverts. I plan on putting bagged sand and fake coral in it. Is there anything else I need to do besides record testing for Nitrate, Nitrite, and Salinity? After 3 weeks I plan to do a 25% water change. If all is well after that is it ok to add my clown fish?

Yesterday I purchased 2 small and young angel fish- one black, one white. They are in a comfortable 55 gallon tank along with a ton of white clouds, 2 clown loaches and 2 plecos.
They like to spend an awful lot of time near the glass, not necessarily rammed up again the glass, but just within 2 or 3 inches.

I read in a book that sometimes, when angels are scared, they will crash into the side of the aquarium in an attempt to kill or injure themselves.

Are my fish suicidal? Or are they just obsessed with their appearance...?

I have had my Betta for about 3 months and recently added 3 platys and a placostumus cat. They have been in there for about 3 weeks and have acted fine up until 3 days ago. The Betta hides in small places and will not eat. The platys stay at the bottom and shake from left to right really fast. I have checked the ph and everything looks good. Yesterday I seen where 1 of the platys and the fins on the Betta have ick. Also, the fabric plants on the rocks are growing mold. I don't think it's algae. I took them out and are now soaking them in a little bit of bleach water. I just don't know what to do. I think adding the platys caused this, because my Betta was so happy before this. Oh, I have a 10 gallon. Can you give me some advise. Thanks!
