he is swimming normal but he goes down after awile

maybe he is just tired, my fish sleeps at the bottom of the tank everyday.
it could also be his time to go if hes old

It's too weak too swim,the water quality is not good,it's being bullied by another fish,or it's about to die.It may try to swim and try to get food,and then lose it's strength. It could be constipated or developing a swim bladder disorder.

Maybe he feels more comfortable at the bottom of the tank. As long as he swims around once and awhile he should be fine.

Seriously, it might have an infection of the organ that controls it's flotation. Ask your fish pet store. They probably have medicine you put in the water for that.
