I forgot the names of the fish but one is a egg layer and another one is a live bearer.

No,if you mean can they breed together. Most fish only breed with their own kind or similar types,but egg layers can't have babies with live bearers.
If you mean that they are in the same tank and both sexes of each fish are in the tank,they could both have their babies in the same tank,but they'll eat them,too.
