How to kill a octopus?

I am going to fish for octopus and do not want to leave them on the bank to die slowly,

The octopus that will be caught is for the table and i dont want to let it suffer anymore than is needed.I dont kill any fish for fun and if its to small it goes free.

This is very complicated job,and take extra care octopus is a giant killer and very very strong more then you can imagine.10 pounds of octopus can tie your both hands and legs.To kill him must have a sharp object like stick or iron rod then you can inside out his head but make sure his tooth doesn't torch you,and that is done

Ask it to predict who would win in a World Cup match between Scotland and any other team. The confusion caused by this question, would fry it's brain and kill it, as even an octopus knows that Scotland would never be in a World Cup match!

Octopus fishing? THAT's a new one. Leaving it on the bank is the only way to go I suppose..that's how fishermen do it, do why not with an octopus?

But like the others said, don't kill what you're not going to use.

I think slapping it 20-30 times is a bit cruel...eesh.

I never heard of fishing for Octopus, but I would suggest just releasing it quickly, then it won't die at all. (Unless you're fioshing in VERY deep water,m then the bends might be ab issue)

Just stab it in the head with something.

And actually, fish do not feel much with a hook in their mouth. That is all skin and cartilidge. It would feel about the same as getting your ears pierced.

I did not say they do not feel anything, I said they do not feel much in their mouth. Don't put words in my mouth. I have never heard of anybody getting their ears numbed before getting them pierced, nobody I have been to does it. It is pointless because ears are cartilidge and there are very few nerves in there, so it does not hurt. If you know of a place where they numb your ears before piercing them, please give me their phone number, so I can call them and tell them they are wasting their money numbing a body part that does not feel much pain if any at all.

And your question of if they don't feel anything then why do they bleed is giving false information. If you cut your finger off quickly it is going to instantly numb and you won't feel a thing. It will bleed like crazy though.

My gosh, people, the person did not say they are not going to use it, so lay off!!! Maybe this person is going to EAT the octopus.

Seriously, just because people have different opinions on things does not mean you have to try to convince them otherwise. How do we know that this person does not live in a place where the only thing to eat is octopus? Even then, you don't hear fishermen going around trying to convince the world that everyone should fish do you? LAY OFF! This person is not trying to get any of you to do it, so answer the question or don't post.

Put it in a really big blender and puree. It will die.
Don't kill what you don't need to eat, that is the rule my grandparents taught me and I live by it.

If you're going to eat it,then I think the best way to killl it would be to submerse it in a bucket of beer.It will get drunk,and then you can kill it by piercing it's brain with a sharp knife.It shouldn't feel much this way.

Octopods and cepholopds are some of the most intelligent and unique animals in the ocean...

Hopefully... They will see you coming a mile away, ink you, bite you and leave you bleeding in the water as shark bait! ( I don't really mean that of course... but Im sure you see where Im going with it though?)

Pick on something your own size man, do you even have a clue how horrible that sounds? Why Fish for something you are not going to use?

I live in greece the land of octopus, I see them getting killed all the time, once you catch one, you have to keep smashing it on the ground. it eventually dies after about 20 - 30 slaps..

I know...its barbaric and I think fishing is cruel too, those fish must be in agony getting dragged in by their mouth.


If fish don't feel anything why do they bleed? as for the ear piercing sure you dont feel anything when your ears have been numbed, I wonder how many fish got their mouths numbed before getting hooked in.

Do you really need to ,is it necessary to your existence to prey upon a poor octupus who never did you any harm.Why can't you do something less destructive and save animals instead.Just think how better you would feel.Everyone would love you .
