Fish - February 2007

OK.... I bought a fish a couple weeks ago.. I think it's a mollie? or maybe not.. but it Was speckled black and white, about half white, half black... i left for the weekend, came back, and now it is black, with like two white spots.... I am sooo confused.. What happened? Did it just go emo on me?!?!

I have a 29-gallon tank, we just got new fish. A few months ago my sister (who was supposed to feed them) stopped feeding the fish, we had a major die-off (three big sturdy algae eaters left). The petshop people say that we have a slight chemical inbalance. Anyways, the heater is not working although it is plugged in. We just put new fish in the water because we figured that they can only stay in the bag for so long.

Will putting warm water in the aquarium help?

I have had my silver dollar for 7 years, recently it has been eating my other fish. I thought they were herbivores, but I have witnessed him swallowing smaller fish whole and chewing on other larger fish. Is there something wrong with it? Or is this normal?

I don't know whats happening at first I thought it was having babies but It doesnt look anything like eggs. my bf says it looks like intestines. now I'm thinking that I may have fed it to much. but then again I have another one in the same tank but nothing seems to be going on with him.
my fish is a type of goldfish I got him at wal-mart, hes white with a bit of orange and some black dots and hes tiny but round. please help I don't want to be a fish killer

i'm building a 240+ gallon tank, and i was wondering if i could use a pond filter instead of a normal filter since this size is so big. the ladie at petsmart said that i could use a pond filter for my tank, but i need one with bio-balls in it. but this website here is a UV + bio pond filter. would this be a good filter or what other filters are good?

I am starting a marine aquarium - 75 gallon and am planning a FOWLR tank. I have had a 75g freshwater for years, but have never had a marine tank before.

I would appeciate advice regarding buying live rock, types to buy, cured vs uncured? Can live rock be primary decor and how do I get vertical decor? I looked online at fosters and smith and was thinking about buying some online? Good or bad idea? Any suggestions on ways to cut cost? How about live sand? All advice appreciated!

I just recently started a brand new saltwater tank. The water has correct salinity and temperature. Im going to put my sand and fake coral in tomarrow, even though I know now I should have added it before hand. Will it be ok as long as I open the bag inside the water? Surely I dont have to take all that water out... I know everyone keeps telling me to get live rock but Im really trying to hold off for now. I have taken raw shrimp and chopped it and placed it into the tank for bacteria. Will this suffice to where the tank is habitable? My last question, I want to start with a simple percula clown and some cool crabs; How long should I repeat adding raw shrimp until the bacteria level is suitable? Thanks for your help.

we have special filters and water warmers.
i was thinking he could fish to much food, he says once a day "im thinking more than that".
anyways his 15 gallon fish tank has 1 black tailed shark, 2 dwarf gourami's, and 2 chinese alage eaters, and 8 guppie feeders.
but why would the tank water be a little murkey?
in other words a milky color water.
sorry its kind of harder to explain.
