It's a tropical fish and I believe it has a broken fin. How can I help it until it gets better, or will it even get better?

If you have Stress Coat, put some of that in.
Also, aquarium salt will help.
For both of these, follow the directions on the label carefully.
Survival depends on how long he was out of the water and his injuries. He may live, he may not.
Good luck

Give it time. It has suffered a major stress but may recover. I have seen fish come back from over an hour on the floor.

Best of luck!
