I just got a Gold/Orange Molly from the pet store and I bought it because it looked pregnant. Its belly went flat yesterday and is now bloated again so how do i know if its pregnant or not. I'm so confused.

Make sure you did not buy pot bellied mollies or balloon belly mollies. They look like mollies and look like they are pregnant but really not. here is a picture.

well my dalmation molly just gave birth to her last set.
a pregnant molly is very easy to tell there stomach hangs low and wide..
If it has a semi-translucent stomach you can sometimes see black specks these are the eyes of the babies
mollies normally carry around 25-40 babies..
their gestation period is 30-60 days ...
and when they start to give birth from my experience they are very quiet and lay low to the ground they are livebearers so be prepared to watch for black specs about a centimeter big they are visable and fun to watch!!... they hide among gravel or near plants.... I suggest breeding grass (there is fake one at walmart for about 2 dollars).
Be warned.. mollies can carry sperm for 6 months! meaning they can reimpregnate themselves multiple times... mine gave birth to three sets of 28 fish.......

She is probably pregnant, but that would not cause what you saw. She was probably just full when you go her and ate well again later.

it could be, but remember it only takes a few days to get the eggs out, and if it starts acting wierd, she is going into labour,
make sure it isnt overweight, as it will explode!
