No, the bettas should be kept separate from other fish. I made that mistake about 10 years ago, the betta ate the fins off all of my fish. They are very aggressive. Mine would have killed my goldfish if they had been small. Mine were about 8 inches long at the time and the betta just got their fins overnight while I was sleeping. The betta went back to the store in the morning...lol

Betta's are known to be aggressive against other Betta's but they are NOT ALWAYS aggressive towards other types of fish. I have a betta in my 10 gal tank along with 2 guppies, 2 danios and 2 mollies and they all get along fine together. My betta really seems to enjoy the extra room I give it. I feel sorry for those betta's that some people keep in a little bowl. Betta's originally come from the Thai rice paddies so they like a lot of vegetation in the tank. They are beautiful and not difficult to take care of.

Wow lau, many people really have mis-concept on Betta!! Betta can be kept with any other tropical fishes but their own. As they would most likly killed the other betta.
YES, you can keep both of your fishes together but only afraid that you Betta may not be able to get the little food it need as Goldfish are usually fast and greedy consumer, he may eat as much as you gave it. Whereas Betta are usually slow and don't fight for his food.

Good Luck to you.

No, the betta will not kill the goldfish, that's a misconception about bettas, they fight amongst themselves, not with other fish. But you should not keep them together because the goldfish needs cool water while the betta is a tropical fish that needs warmer water.

you should never put any tropical fish in the same tank with goldfish. goldfish create anmoina in the water that would kill your betta. so they are better off apart looking at each other from a distance.

NEVER put them together in the same tank, it is alright to put the tanks away from each other, but dont leave them there 24/7, as this may freak the goldfish out!

So long as your tank is cycled and the water is warm, go ahead. Just watch to make sure your betta isn't being aggressive, some are too mean to house in communities.

Fighting Fish are to be put by themselves only, your suppose to get one of those dividing tanks with aother one next to it so it can look at one another.. hence the name fighting fish they will attack other fish if together!
