Fancy type goldfish can get to 16". Single-tail goldfish can get to 23". In healthy situations they should grow 5 inches a year at least. They can live a few decades regardless of whether they are in a pond or aquarium. It just depends how well you care for them.
Fish don't grow to the tank size. In a small tank, the water builds up toxins. This stunts the outside of the fish, but the internal organs keep growing. Eventually this causes a painful death.

As you may already know, gold fish don't stop growing because of their tank size. The goldfish, Carassius auratus, was one of the earliest fish to be domesticated, and is still one of the most commonly kept aquarium fish. A relatively small member of the carp family (which also includes the koi carp and the crucian carp), the goldfish is a domesticated version of a dark-gray/olive/brown carp native to east Asia (first domesticated in China) that was introduced to Europe in the late 17th century.

Since they are decendents of the carp family which can grow in excess of 5 feet, standard breeding has standard sizes for your fish. However, they can grow larger or smaller than "average sizes."

Also, breeding. Since you really have no way of knowing the lineage of your fish, a common gold fish could have a lineage of a larger species of goldfish since most of the common types are bread in large tanks actually ponds with no breeding guidelines. The introduction of a larger species could change the entire size of the fish bread in that particular tank or pond.

Expect no less than 6 inches, but prepare for 18. Depending on feeding and water quality, your fish could easily attain a 5 inch growth spurt in a year's time. Pond kept golds can grow much faster and larger also depending on water quality and feeding.

I dont have gold fish, but my neighbor had gotten some fish and put them in an outdoor pond and they got huge! The store told her the bigger the pond the bigger they will get. There about 6 months old, and about 8 to 10 inches long!, and would make mighty good eating if she wasnt such a good neighbor hahaha, I think it depends on the breed too. She has one that is gold and white, its really pretty. Nice post.

the goldfish won't/do not often consume different goldfish. my grandma has a goldfish pond and he or she has them in all diverse sizes, and not something has ever got here approximately. now i think of the turtle could probable be a issue... if i've got been you i could have somebody shelter your fish while you're out of city. yet i do think of that each and every physique the different fish will probable consume each and every of the food and the infant won't get any. and that i'm hoping which you're protecting the right amt of gallons and protecting sturdy environments... you suggested that it replaced into in a bowl? in case you have been an informed goldfish proprietor you are able to understand how unacceptable it quite is, and how badly it impacts the well being of your fish...

They say a fish will grow to the size of tank it's given. I've had goldfish and fancy goldfish for about 8 years and I've had pond fish for about 10 years. As for how big they get and how long it takes for them to grow it is no different than you... you can't rush your growing rate.... We had one pond fish (goldfish) that was huge...my father guessed at it's weight being about 3 - 3.5 pounds. He talked to a guy at a pond place and he said that if we sold him our fish that were that size, we'd get $50 per fish... now with having a ton of fish in each pond who reproduce faster than rabbits you can imagine the money we could have gotten for them. We sold a few of them to a guy in our town just to try to get rid of them.
Goldfish generally don't live long, usually no more than a year, if that.... however, I have had one in an aquarium that lived about 3 years.

Hope this helps you.... to show your appreciation you can visit our website: http://4einc.info

It really depends on what kind of goldfish you have, not the tank.

Fancy goldfish may get up to about 10" while common comets (like feeder fish) can get 18" or more.

it depends on how big the tank the fish is living in, if it is small the goldfish wont grow longer than 10cm, altough if it is in a big tank it could grow upto around 20cm-25cm.
