I assume you are changing 100% of the water. No, this is not OK. A water change should only be 25-30% of the total volume in the container and should be done periodically (but not daily unless you are trying to make the fish spawn or raise very touchy babies such as discus or angels). A good schedule is once a week. More often until you fine tune the amount of food you are feeding.

Never change 100% of the water and never clean "everything" in the tank. Beneficial bacteria live on all the surfaces and help to convert ammonia to less toxic substances such as nitrites and nitrates. These are also toxic, but are removed by the regular partial water changes you do weekly.

I have tanks that have been set up and running for over 6 years without a teardown. Regular partial water changes and gravel siphoning is the key to a healthy happy environment for your fish.

Fish should not be kept in bowls to begin with. All fish need a filter for their aquarium. If it is a goldfish, you don't need a heater. If it is a betta, it needs a heater. Bettas are tropical fish from southeast Asia and need temps of 76-82 degrees to stay healthy. In the wild, they live for up to 7 years, in our "care" they are lucky to live 1-2 years.

Feed only what the fish will eat in 2-3 minutes. Use a net and remove anything that is still floating after that amount of time. Rinse out the net. Feed only once a day. You can skip a day once a week with no detrimental effects to your fish.

Just changing water without removing the un-eaten food doesn't do much good. Use a small piece of air line or similar tubing to siphon the stuff out of the bowl, then replace the water that you siphoned out with treated water that is the same temperature as the water in the tank. If there is a lot of un-eaten food in the container, it probably means that you are over-feeding. More fish die from over-feeding than all the other causes combined. It is almost impossible to starve a fish, and it's OK to skip a day or two with no feeding at all. This is not harmful to your fish, and actually improves the water quality.-----Hope this is helpful, good luck.----PeeTee

No you shouldn't change the water daily and even though the food is at the bottom you should still continue to feed your fish

no dear
you do not change the water daily, and even if you do, just do 10% of the total water, let the ecosystem build in the bowl.

and feed only once, just a tiny bit, which the fish can eat right away. and also you could starve the fish for a day or two. there is enough bacteria in the water, that fish can live on, and also you know how the bowl gets slimy from inside, that is food for the fish, so do not wipe it off on a daily basis.

changing it once a week is fine enough even if it is a small boul. trying putting just a little less food in if you think you are over feeding your fish.
