I have never left my dog alone in the house while I travel for business. Usually my mom takes care of my golden while I am away. That is no longer possilbe. I have boarded him in the past but someone suggested that I let him stay in his own house and get a dog sitter to come several times, feed him, walk him...etc. So I am going to do that. Now with the trip coming up, I am not sure I know if this is the best idea (he is very good in the house) and I don't know how to prepare. Goldens are so people oriented, I am worried that he will get depressed or crazy while we are gone. The pet sitter is on the same street as me so they could come and see or walk him as much as I want to pay for. Please advise about this whole thing....Thanks, many!!!
Oh...need answers quick....

My puppy wil be one year old in January but we are still confused with how much to feed him. Everyone says that he is putting on too much weight. He is a maltese x shitzu and gets fed about 1 1/2 of dry biscuits for breaky and then either more biscuits for dinner or dog meat etc. Are we feeding him too much??? How much should i be feeding him?

when my boyfriend takes the dogs away for the weekend I am left alone. At night I can't sleep well because the dogs are not there.

I know if somebody breaks in the dogs will chase them away but when doggies are gone I feel insecure. Does anybody else feel this way?

I have a 1 year old Bichon Frise and I am having trouble with her. She goes to the bathroom on the carpets while were sleeping , So we can't catch her doing it. We try to let her outside but she barely goes the the bathroom out there. We can't crate train her because if she is put in a crate she starts crying and screaming until we let her out. PLEASE HELP! We just want her to learn to go to the bathroom outside and not in the house.

Everyone gets all mad at back yard breeders because of the overpopulation of dogs. Many dogs in shelters etc.. What about these reputable breeders????? What makes them better?? They should stop breeding too shouldn't they? Are they not contributing to the problem?? But because they are registered with the rich snobs etc... at the AKC its ok for them to do exactly the same thing that everyone gets on these BYB for. Sounds like a double standard to me.

My daughter works in a deli where a woman comes DAILY to get ground turkey for her dog. My child (AKA "Mouth") took it upon herself to tell the lady that turkey's lethal to dogs. The woman said "Nah," took her turkey, and went to poison her dog. Or whatever. Anybody know the real deal on this? Old wives tale? IS the woman committing caninicide?

My dog has been itching himself more than usual lately (the last week or so), but I never considered fleas until today. I noticed that he has little white things on his black fur. I can't tell if they're moving or not. Are fleas white? Can you see them with the naked eye? Can a groomer take care of the fleas, or do I need to take him to the vet? He's never had fleas before. Thank you!

Ok, this is really wierd, Last night as i was cooking, my dog was playing with her toys, after a few minutes she was barking really loud and sounded angry, i went to see, she was looking at the isle way, I though that my flatmate was probably teasing her, but he was not at home, She kept barking as if she saw something or someone, I was surprized because she is a very lovely and playful dog she would NEVER bark at anyone. It felt strange, I felt as if someone was there. I hugged my dog and calmed her, but she kept looking there for a few seconds then she became quiet, but after that she followed me to the kitchen and sat right beside me in a position as if she was guarding me or something. It was raining, anyway, I freaked, but after sometime there was this strong wind, but after that I felt light, my dog went back to her toys and she seemed normal again. Am I overreacting, or was there really some kinda spirit or something, personally I never paid much interest to these things.
