I think you are doing a fine job with your dogs! It is perfectly fine to keep one of your dogs' offspring. The woman I got my Boston Terrier from kept one of his sisters and I've known breeders to do this many times!

The older dog probably just doesn't appreciate the puppy's energy. A lot of older dogs don't! Your older dog is just warning the puppy to back off, and it's a lesson your puppy needs to learn. Otherwise, later, you may have trouble training her not to bite or so on. She needs to learn some inhibitions from her older role models. I honestly would just make sure they are always supervised when they are together, and let the older dog teach the younger dog when enough is enough.

Good luck!!

My family raised Boston Terriers and we kept a puppy form many a litter with the mom already a part of the family. So no, you don't need to give the puppy up, and your older dog just needs to get used to the puppy and the puppy energy! You have Jack Russels and they tend to be a little aggressive. It sounds like a case for a dog trainer! Either a private session or a class. You will learn about dog behavior, and have fun with other pet owners!

you need to first if you keep the pup due to her being a runt get her fixed at 5-6 months.
What you need to do is to give the older dog a place he is allowed and train the pup she isn't allowed there. Dogs often need a place to get away just like you.
If he hasn't hurt her he is just showing his dominance and should be fine.
Pups sorry to say jacks can be very hard headed and seh will just need to learn,. Don't break it up but let them settle it. yes is is scary but that's the life of living with dogs of dieferent ages.
Also of course the biggest question in keeping of the pup is can you afford to keep her??

when i got my pup, my old girl was 12yrs old and she hated my new pup too! i had to teach my pup not to go near me old girl, every time pup went near her i would pick her up and so "NO" to her, it worked after some persistence. i kept my pup busy so she wouldnt annoy me old girl as much. hope this helps.
