You can not determine cancer by the feel alone. Your dog will need to have a biopsy. Could be cancer & could just be a fatty or beneign tumor.
You really should have your dog seen by a vet.
Good luck!!

I agree that your dog needs to see a vet. If you don't have the money, maybe call some Humane Societies in your area and see if they can help you find some help at a discount. Shelters may also be able to help you find a fair and less expensive vet...they have so many animals to care for, they often know really well what vets in the area charge. They may be able to help you find some medical assistance for your dog even if you don't have a lot of money.
Good luck!!

It is a tumor. My poodle has them. Some are benign and some are malignant. The only way to tell is to go to the vet. Most can be safely removed by surgery. If your dog is elderly or if the tumors are advanced, your vet may recommend that no surgery be done and may even suggest euthanasia of the animal. Sorry. But better to put it to sleep than let it suffer.

there are 2 types of tests for lumps. a biopsy requires taking a piece of the lump which is more costly then a cytology. where i work........office visit + cytology is about $150, which is nothing compared to a biopsy. i would ask your vet if they can do a cytology. also ask if they offer a payment plan or..........try going online and looking up carecredit to see if you qualify for that........which will allow you to make payments.

It may just be a benign tumor (my cocker spaniel had one when she was about a year old - when they removed it it was about the size of a quarter - from her chest). But you should take it to be checked out - you should get pet insurance for your animal to help with the costs if that is a concern.
