No, I don't think they notice at all. My dogs were 6 months old when they were neutered so they barely had anything to begin with but I know of adult dogs who have been neutered and they act the same.

My dog was not bred before being neutered and had no contact with a female in heat other than maybe catching a whiff of ones scent in the wind as there are no female dogs spayed or not in my neighborhood.
After it was done there was a deep sadness in his eyes that's lessened with age but has never gone away completely.
He was a year old when it was done and he's 5 now.
I think if it's done before they're 6 mos. old they have a much easier time of it.But once they are sexually mature then it's worse on them mentally.

I have two Bull Terriers and one rescued Min-pin. the MinPin was a fully "develped" adult male when I had him improved (neutered). He has never seemed to notice past the few times that his stitches might have itched. He never acted depressed or out of sorts in any way.
I have had a few other males over the years that have been neutered at various ages and not one of them have shown any signs of caring in the least.

My Basset was peeved that I wouldn't let him go dig in the dirt 2 hours after he came home from his neuter surgery. Keep him calm? Yeah.. Right. I don't think he noticed a thing.

IMHO this is not the case. I've had dogs fixed and intact and don't think they ever "cared" much :)
It's 190% healthier to have a fixed dog!!!

It is a question that really no one can answer except a dog and seems they can't speak who knows.

Of course not. People invented Neuticles, not dogs.

i think he was more upset that he couldn't chase that pesky squirrel up the big tree in my yard for 3 days after surgery, rather than being upset about having his "berries" removed.
