With Cane Corso's your biggest concern should be temperament and health (genetic) issues. You are going to want to get your dog from a reputable and responsible breeder who has done all the breed specific health clearances and offers a health guarantee on your puppy.

Of course, you will be paying more for this well bred puppy then from John Smith who lists his Cane Corso's (who the heck even knows if they are purebred) in the local newspaper. Buyer beware! You certainly get what you pay for!

I agree, especially when buying a dog breed that was originally bred as a guard and watch dog. The lion and dog fighting history is long gone now but they are still a very loyal dog that will not back down from a challenge.

A responsible breeder will breed for temperament as well as conformation so it is worth speaking to many different people - both owners and breeders. I would suggest going to local dog shows and meeting with the people who own these dogs - they are the best source of information.

Try this website talk to others online or by phone. Just beware that a BYB will attempt to sell pups for under $1000. Run from these breeders they are just doing it for the $$. Pet quality pups can run anywhere between $1000 to $1500.
You should also be able to meet and/or see the parents.
Good Luck
