of course its a bad idea. here is what happens. puppy is the first gift that the child recieves on christmas morning. the child is so excited that they make all these promises to feed it and play with it and walk it etc... as the day goes on u open ur gifts. all of the sudden puppy is the last thing on ur mind. u have all these cool toys who cares about a dog. u know what happens next puppy goes to the pound next day because the child has lost interest in it and wont do anything with it. puppies on christmas r like computers on christmas or video games or toys. eventually they r forgotten. except puppies r forgotten and they become a handful so they go to the pound and u never see it again

Yes a bad idea unless you know that the person you are buying it for really wants a puppy and will commit themselves to looking after it.
remember the saying "a dog is for life not just for Christmas"
Some people are all enthusiastic when they get a puppy but after new years they throw them out on the streets or do some other horrible deed to get rid of them as the novelty has worn off!!
So unless you know that the person will keep the puppy for ever and never do anything horrible like get rid of it, then it is a bad idea and you should wait for another time in the year like spring or summer!!

Yes, a puppy for Christmas is a bad idea.

Wait a while. Christmas is a time of a lot of noise and confusion. Puppies (and new pets) could be agitated and frightened. Children are distracted by other things- new toys, etc. Puppies may get hurt from new toys or damage them as well.

Remember- somebody has to feed the puppy and take it outside during all kinds of weather. When it's cold and snowy outside and it's 10 pm, who will want to do it then?

Ask a local vet or a pet adoption center for advice.

Pets as a gift to yourself is NEVER a bad idea, no matter what time of year it is. Just as long as you ready for the responsibilty, I say go for it, I did, and could not be happier. Getting a puppy for someone else for a gift MAY be a bad idea if the person has never conveyed to you that they wanted an animal, or the person doesn't seem like someone who will have to time to care for it.

No! That is the best time of year! Most miracles happen around then so why not a new friend? Just like a miracle! But if it's for a child 6 and under bad idea!

I know eveyone will say bad idea, but it depends on where you live for one, if you live where there is snow this time of year, I won't do it, but if you live somewhere that its still nice out, Yes do it. Just remember you will be outside with the puppy for awhile, until it is potty trained, and you want the puppy to be comfortable going potty outside. Another thing is that you will want to train the puppy and outside is usually best, but depends on where you live.

there is greater to possessing a dogs than only the "amazing doggy" point, and training it tricks. possessing a dogs is a 10-15 year dedication. canines choose interest and time daily. it truly is 'amazing' coaching a doggy tricks, yet will you be taking it for walks daily while it somewhat is raining & snowing? Will you be out interior the backyard clearing up the dogs poop whn it somewhat is pouring with rain? Will you be taking it to coaching training & to the vet? Will you be coaching the doggy to no longer poop interior the domicile (and clearing up each and all of the little injuries)? Will the dogs be happy with the different pets you (or your acquaintances) have? Will you be getting the dogs neutered/spayed? what is going to take place to the dogs once you opt for for to pass away for the weekend or off on trip? Will you nonetheless be waiting to grant adequate time to the dogs in some years time once you will extremely be out on dates, or off to college? if so, what variety of dogs would be maximum appropriate on your challenge? Do you reside in city or geographical area? a large breed or small breed? a house dogs or a backyard dogs? A pedigree or a mutt? A male dogs or lady dogs? in all possibility superb to attend till the tip of January, while each and all of the "Christmas canines" have been back to the dogs rescue homes.

You know what? I think it is a good time to get one/ recieve one. because what better to have somthing waiting downstairs barking in a cage? I think it would be special. I've always dreamed of getting a puppy on x-mas, but I know I can never get one because of my bro. That (my account pic) is my best friend that I couldnt have ( the puppy) So you should make this x-mas special and wake up to a barking sound of a cute little friendly puppy!!!! :)

and plus I am a kid with a big dream to get a best friend for x-mas, I know it can't happen because of my bro's allergies, but it would be the best thing in the world if that happenned to me! I dnt care if I get a million thumbs down! ill stick with my answer, its a big fat YESSSSSSS!

Depends on who you are buying for. Do they want a puppy? Do they have time for a puppy? Can they afford the vet bets?
Will they be responsible for the puppy through adulthood????
