Rough details of the story, for more information please see the link in the first set of Additional Details.
Landscapers showed up at the family's home, and were told to wait in the truck. They didn't listen, Congo and the other dogs started barking at the, then the landscaper started hitting the dogs with a rake. The wife yelled for him to stop at which point he threw her to ground. That's when Congo bit him.
He saw a threat to his family and home and did what dogs are supposed to do. Protect his family and home.

Congo isn't my dog. I'm in Minnesota, Congo and his family are New Jersey.
Congo is currently being held at an animal shelter.

The landscapers were and hour early.
I'm sorry but if I'm not expecting you until 8 and you show up at 7 without calling, you better be prepared to wait. I know if I'm out working my own dogs and someone decides to come early, sucks to be them, I'm busy and they'll just have to wait.

This may seem like a silly solution, but is there any way you can appeal Congo's case. This would buy you time. If so, can you send Congo to live in another state temporarily preferably one that does not euthanise animals, until things can be straightened out.

I e-mailed and called yesterday. What makes me so mad is that not only was the dog doing what he was supposed to by protecting his family and property, the morons didn't listen to the owner, AND the illegal immigrant took a $250,000 payout from the home owner's insurance policy AND had his medical bills paid for additionally. MY take on it? Give Congo a medal and send those illegal immigrants back to their country.

This is pure BS! No dog should be killed for protecting his family. If this was my dog, I'd be hiring a attorney & pressing charges because I was pushed to the ground. After I got my husband out of jail for kicking his a$$. You can count on me to send a email.

This is just absolutely wrong.
Horrible for the dog and family.
Its just ridiculous that illegal immigrants have more rights than an American citizens. We now dont even have a right to protect ourselves or our property apparently.

I am in Canada - they wont care what I have to say
BUT I will point out to EVERYBODY - that PHONE CALLS are the MOST effective way of helping - they are taken WAY more seriously than are e-mails... and signed on-line petitions...
Actual LETTERS are the Second best route...
ALWAYS include your name, address, and phone numbers when protesting anything so you are taken more seriously
ALSO write letters to the EDITOR in local papers for the area.. very effective way of getting your views heard.
