I took my year old black lab out this morning to play fetch. I threw his ball and it went into the bushes. Oz always goes full speed to retrieve and often "crashes" through brush and bushes. When he came back he dropped the ball and wouldn't pick it back up again, which is very ususual. I brought him inside and he was smacking his lips-like he would if I gave him a spoonful of peanut butter. I gave him his water and left him for about five minutes. When I came back he was drooling profusely and still smacking his mouth. I wiped his mouth off and looked inside his mouth, but I didn't see anything. Any ideas? The search I did sounded like he possibly could have gotten a splinter that I missed when I looked. I'm just concerned about choking and poisoning. The bushes are buckthorn and he often comes back with a mouthful of weeds or leaves when he grabs his ball. Could a leaf from buckthorn be poisonous enough to make him do this?
Thanks so much.

i have my dog currently on two different products. worming for every 3 months and proheart for monthly protection against heartworms. problem is, i noticed he has fleas so we got a flea collar and spray but he is still scratching. if i was to change over to revolution which also prevents heartworm, can i immediately change over and ditch my proheart worming? will i still need to continue 3 month worming?
thanks
also, has anyone had an experience with this. switching over to something? and did it work?

My 11 week old boxer is good most of the time he sleeps in hes crate and he goes pee pees on the paper and outside but the only this is does like is being left on his own if i go out he rips his paper but in is crate and barks like thes no tomorrow, so what i do is make sure he's a sleep in hes crate and then creep out which did work the first few times i did it but now he knows im doing it so he stays awake. I was told to get an older dog as this would be company for him and the puppy and learn from him but im not sure if this is the case or just some old wifes tale. also any one got any tips on play bitting as he is doing this and gets very hiper and just does nor listen when u tell him off ive tryed all the saying ouch and walking away bitting him back but he still does it and bites your shoes.

I have a small dog - chihuahua/daschund. Recently I noticed he was scratching a lot. Of course, fleas. I gave him a good flea bath and I think I have it under control, but...

he constantly nibbles on the top of his backside. It's like he is scratching with his teeth, I guess. He is starting to loose hair in that spot and the skin looks very tender with some small scabs.

What can I do to get him to stop doing this to himself?

We have an 8-year-old male lab. Very friendly .. lovely dog. Supposing I went and brought home a pet mouse.. how would he re-act to it? He's an indoor dog, so has almost no experience interacting with other animals aside from dogs. Would he treat it as a friend or foe? He wouldn't try to kill/eat it, would he?

Hi. I own a golden retriever, who is one year and four months old. My dog tends to pull forward against the leash, which means she is ahead of me (not all the time, though). It is even worse when she knows (instinctively from previous walks) that I am walking back home.

On a canal walk, however, where there is a long and straight trail, when I walk back she will pull at the leash much more intensively because she can see the way back clearly (whereas a walk around the neighborhood she cannot see the straightforward path back to home).

Also, she tends to go after vehicles driving by.

I would appreciate any advice with the following questions =):

-- How do I permanently walk her beside me at all times?
-- How do I prevent her from going after vehicles?

Any training tips or advice is greatly appreciated!

Message me if you have any other ideas.

Thanks alot!!! =D

I was wandering how to get our 5month old Great Dane to sleep in the bedroom with us. I normally don't let my dogs do this, but my husband goes to work at 3 or 4am and I'm by myself. We have three dogs, but the two little ones aren't fully housebroke yet or I'd train all three to sleep with us. This way when my husband leaves I can feel a little more safe. Any tips on how to train her to sleep in our bedroom? Also I'm a little nervous about her having an accident although she has only had two accidents in the house since we've owned her, but then again she's been crate trained and she's never had this much space during the night.

I have a wheaten terrier with long hair. There are many days where it rains or snows or there are puddles in the park that he decides to lie down in =p. By the end of most walks his legs are wet and muddy. I tried wipes (they didn't do anything due to his long hair) and i tried a damp towel... and that didn't help either. Any long hair dog owners have any quick cleaning tips or any products they use to help get the dirt out?
