I have a wheaten terrier with long hair. There are many days where it rains or snows or there are puddles in the park that he decides to lie down in =p. By the end of most walks his legs are wet and muddy. I tried wipes (they didn't do anything due to his long hair) and i tried a damp towel... and that didn't help either. Any long hair dog owners have any quick cleaning tips or any products they use to help get the dirt out?

Before you bring him in the house, bring a container of warm, slightly soapy water and a towel to the porch/patio and step his feet in the water one at a time, kind of wash them off with your hands and dry him before he comes inside.

Get most of the moisture out with a dry towel. Sprinkle corn starch on the paws and rub it out with another towel. The cornstarch will absorb the moisture as well as most of the mud.

I think they make special dog wipes for dogs like that. For those dogs that have the brown tear streaks near their eyes. You could try those. Also, you could try a place that sells horse supplies if your dogs white. I can't remember what it's called, but there is a purple shampoo in a purple bottle with white writing and it is for brightening white spots on a horse.

I just teach my dogs to wait at the door to have their feet and legs dried off. Daily brushing takes care of the dirt.

You can try shaving his paws so they could be less likely to catch dirt and easier to clean.
