Should I stay at home with the puppies or should I just go to work? One of the puppies has a string like (embilical cord maybe) one its stomach. I see that she licks and maybe try to bite it off. Is that normal?

One of my dogs from my breeding program has become extremely ill since Monday when the owners opened a new bag of Canidea and fed her. She has had fever, lethargic, hives, diahrrea, vomiting and will not eat.
The owner called Canidea and has learned there is a new problem. PLEASE BE AWARE!! I am sorry this is NOT a question but I feel it is urgent to get the word out anyway possible.

Sorry for the repeat but I wanted to do it right by having pics available from the start this time.

We have a dog that came from the Humane Society. She is 5 and weighs 47 lbs. with natural tail and ears. She loves to keep her nose to the ground while on walks and has a bark that sounds like a sea lion when she's excited. They told us she was a B & T mix but I'm curious to the opinions of others, especially those of you more familiar with the breeds.

She is wonderful with kids and we love her no matter what kind of mutt she is.

Is Seven Dust dangerous to use on your pets for fleas? I have seen it mentioned a few times in the dog, horse, and cat forum, so I went and bought a bag. But I am a little scared of it.
How would I go about using it and can it harm me or my family?
I have a 9 lb mini schnauzer, and a 120 lb Neopolitan bMastiff that have fleas. Need the fleas gone, cause I am not kickin my babies outside. Its too cold.
Also, can it be used on cats too? I just found a very small kitten, that is infested with fleas. She is too little to keep outside too.
(And no the fleas didnt come with the cat as the dogs already had them, and the kitten was found with em allllllll over the poor baby)

Thanks for the help!

I had to put my angel to sleep today, she was 18y/o and had terrible arthritis.Today she couldn't get up,and when I looked into her face I could dee how much pain she was in.My wife and I took her to the vet and he agreed that euthanasia would be the best thing we can do for her.So we laid her on the table and put her favorite pillow under her head, telling her what a good girl she was. When the vet gave her the shot she was so brave, didn't even whimper. She looked me in the face and I could see the relief in her eyes. Right before she passed she kissed my wife, then me on the chin.I know it was for the best, but it hit me so hard.My wife got me Lady(my dog's name) on our first anniversary and she has been our baby for the last 18 years.I didn't want to cry in front of her,I didn't want her to feel anything but my love, but as soon as her eyes closed I was sobbing.Has anyone else ever felt so lost after losing their pet?Any suggestions on how to make myself face the day without my angel?

What does that mean about the quality of the dog I am getting? I know it doesn't ensure anything, but what exactly does it mean.

The breeder that is talking with me has told me that her dogs breed once a year (if that) and that her puppies have AKC champions in the bloodline.

She sent me pedigree paperwork and there are like 6 champs on the dad's side and 3 on the mom's.

Does this mean that if I am interested in showing my pup there is a good chance he will be quality enough to do so?

Thanks!

hi, I recently visited my local animal shelter to adopt a dog. Well first of all, I was going to buy one from those website ones but some of them included shipping the dogs and I really didn't want the dog i buy to be shipped. So I read and asked around on how and where to purchase dogs and most of the answers lead up to animal shelters. Many people, especially on yahoo answers, stated that the dogs there are great. So I go my some animal shelters and quite honestly, I was quite scared at first. I expected it to be a little frightening but I guess after reading some comments on yahoo answers, I was less frightened.. until i went to the shelters.

I dont know if it was just me or something but, those dogs looked as him they wanted to kill someone. I have raised a dog since it was a baby in the past and she was really really really nice, but unfortunately I had to move so I had to give the dog away.
so yea, i just wanted to know whether or not i should really go to a shelter.

We got a boxer puppy from a family. Husband, wife and their 7 yr old daughter. They have 4 adult boxers, two females, two males. We drove to their house when their pups were 4 weeks old. We picked out the runt of the litter. A dark brown and black brindle boy with a white bib and paws. We came back to get him two weeks later(yesterday) and brought him home. We took him to the vet today and he has a heart murmur. She said a level 3. The breeder came to get him and took him to his vet, she said he has a murmur, a level 2 tops. What do we do? I have read alot on this and I am getting alot of he will be fine and he will most likely grow out of it or never bother him. We are torn whether to keep him or not. We dont have any guarantee from the family. With the money we have already invested in him, his toys, crate, bed, food, treats and first vet bill I think we should keep the little guy. Help us out please!

And no I dont have one or would never even consider getting one!
Surely any dog that wears one of these only behaves out of pure fear and this collar must be agonisanely painful!
Does antone own one of these or what are your views on them?

ok well his name is Willam he's a half german shepard and sheep dog i think and he's veeery shy and gets scared so easily. like any bang noises or water bottles, bubble gum popping etc. my younger brother gets firecrackers and little banger things mabye one or twice a year and William reeally hates it, he just goes under the bed or behind the washing machine. i thought if i make lots of popping noises he would get used to it and not be so scared but it just gets worse. like today william was lying on the floor in the kitchen and i got a pack chips and opened them and he walked off with his tail between his legs because of the noise it made when i opend it??? wtf i dont know whats his problem. i know his previous owner was kind of mean to him.. but we had him for like 7 years now. he's probobly 7 1/2 years old

what do you think i should do. it seems like he's sad all the time but i give him lots of attention

We have "inherited" a dog from our fly by night neighbors who skipped town to avoid being evicted and "forgot" their pet behind. He has fleas pretty bad and is the same weight as my dog, so I thought I'd give him a dose of my dog's frontline, but first I wanted to bathe him and get rid of as many fleas as I could. Someone said Dawn Dish Soap kills fleas- does anyone know if this is true?

I am a bit concerned as my friend has a male and female dog who are brother and sister. (Their mother is border collie-their father is staff/snauchzer) They mated and had 1 male and 2 females. They are healthy, but now one of the female pups is pregnant by the father or the brother. Will these pups survive and be healthy? What will their temperaments be like?
They all have sweet temperaments so far and respond with good intelligence.

My dog delivered a single stillborn pup this afternoon. I found out there is a 2-week-old puppy near me whose mother has abandoned it, its owner is looking for a dog that will nurse it. I said they can bring the 2 week old here and see if my dog will adopt it or refuse it - what's the likelihood of this being successful vs. my dog attacking the puppy?

I asked all the questions from the AKC website, but am sitting here thinking that there may be something I have missed.

From personal experiance what are some questions that should be asked but are normally forgotten.

So far this breeder has shown me the webpage and her dogs and avalible puppies. We have been talking on the phone and she is so knowledgable!

She said when I come to visit (she likes a visit prior to purchase) that we can have some coffee and "talk shop". I would love to have some awesome questions to ask her.

THANKS
