You need to take your dog to the Vet immediately. He probably has a bladder/kidney infection but that can't be determined until a urine sample is taken. And IF it is a bladder infection than the antibiotic to treat will depend on the type of infection (and whether it is in the kidney or bladder). Also, How old is your dog? Is he neutered? It may not be a urine infection. it could be something more serious if other factors are involved. If urine is in the blood - ouch! This is just a manifestation of an ongoing problem. Your doggy is probably very uncomfortable/ in pain. Please see a Vet!!

Blood in the urine should be checked by the Vet to get the proper treatment and for the appropriate length of time. My Golden used to get bladder infections after being in the water at the dog park. She had to go through a few cycles of treatment with Clavamox and then we stopped Dog Park visits. Since then she has not had any more problems.
Determining the cause and getting the right treatment will help your pup!

Please , please do not self treat your little boy, you will do him more harm than good! Blood in his urine IS a sign of an infection or an injury of some sort! Has he knocked himself really hard whilst playing in the last few days? Has he been unwell? Is he eating and drinking and behaving as normal? Your little man needs to see a vet to determine where this blood is coming from because its certainly not normal. It may be something as simple as a cold, or a mild infection or it may be the beginnings of something more serious that only a vet can and should treat! Be very careful how you medicate an animal, some of your medicines can kill a dog! Take him to the vet please, he deserves that doesn't he?

It could be an infection or it could be something much more serious. I would suggest taking him to a vet. If cost is an issue, you could try contacting the animal shelter or the humane society and ask them for the number to local clinics that accept cases on a sliding scale based on your ability to pay.

Even if it is a kidney infection, and amoxycylin were the correct drug to treat your dog with, there is no way to determine the proper dosage without consulting a vet.

Good luck!

Honestly, an untrained dog can be a real pain - a risk to himself, his owner and to other people and animals. Owning an undisciplined dog may result to:
- Destruction to your home
- Social isolation
- Accidents
- Injuries
- Legal claims against you
- Stress to all concerned
- The dog being unwanted

Canines that always get their own way will believe that life revolves around them and for that reason they must be important. Since dogs are looking for controlling different resources than humans, their bid for power usually goes undetected until it’s too late. Obedience and house training your dog and ensuring he’s not raised to a top position inside the home will keep your relationship with him well-balanced in your favor, as it must be for satisfaction all round.

Could be an infection. Amoxacilan is the usual prescribed antibiotic. Have you changed your dogs food latelyÉ I know foods high in ash will cause some pets to pee blood.

You definitely need to take him to the vet, when this happened with my dog, though, it was bladder stones that needed to be removed, so it may not be a kidney infection.

Consult your vet immediately. Make sure you are not feeding him the dog foods that were recently pulled or should have been pulled from your grocers shelves.
The bad pet foods are killing dogs and cats through kidney problems
