If you are sure it is earmites and not something more serious, you can clean them out yourself with repeated applications of mineral oil. Put mineral oil on a cotton ball and clean the inside of the ear as thoroughly as you can. You will need to repeat this for several days until all of the mites are out of there. If this does not work (really severe infestation), you will need to buy a product for that purpose (check PetSmart or some other pet supply store of less expensive products).

!. You should not have gotten a 7 week old pup.

2. You should not have gotten a pet you cannot afford

3. Pups are WAY less likely to have mites. I can be an infection.

4. The pup needs to see a vet for worming and vaccines also.

5. Mites can wait a day or two. Make an appointment for very soon when you get paid and get the pup what it needs. If you cannot afford preventitive care, do not get an animal!!

How can you be sure they are ear mites? Don't want to risk the puppy's hearing by letting an infection go untreated.

If they are mites, Frontline actually works.

if it is mites it should be dark black/brown gunk in his ears.besides ear mite meds you could try flushing his ears with warm water.the vet uses a water pic and does this to get rid of mites also .your pup is kinda young though and i wouldn't want to damage his hearing.call your vet and ask to make the payment when your check comes in or just explain what is going on with the pup and see what he says. good luck

Pets can get expensive, I know. Ours even had to see a specialist. They are a big financial responsibility. I think you should see a vet so he or she gets the best care possible.
