Just to clarify, I'm not the one weaning the puppies. My family and I are adopting a little mixed puppy who is on Day 30. We just met her four days ago and the woman said she was going to start weaning them but we couldn't pick her up until the 2nd...but the woman called my mom this morning and she insists they're all eating fine and that mom won't have anything to do with pups, so she was letting them go and we could come pick her up.

So, what I'm wondering is 1- If we take her in the next week (so 4-5 weeks old) What are the dangers?
And 2- if it's really unsafe for her to come with us this early, how long should we push for the owner to keep her with mom?

I read here (http://www.familymatters.tv/level_4/pets/gotfleas.htm) that you can put nematodes in your yard to get rid of fleas, but I looked em up in wiki and it says that they're roundworms.. It's not very healthy/safe to purposely give your dog roundworms, is it? Or would it be fine to do that then de-worm him? Hm..

I ran across this post on Craig's List this morning. Many are debating whether or not they should rescued. Do you think that they are beyond saving, or should they be given a chance to become someone's pet?

I am looking to adopt a puppy. I found these terriers, but the place doesn't know what mix they are. I want a small dog, so are all terriers usually small? Do they bark a lot? Are they good with children? They look cute now, but they are only six weeks. Of course they are going to be small now. I don't want it to grow and be this huge dog. So if anyone knows anything about this breed of dog please help me. Thank you.

We like the idea that there good with kids, but before we think about getting one, how much time do they need walking and excersizing?

People that ACTUALY KNOW. only please. And not people with mixes, mixes sometimes possess traits of the other dog, Im talking about the true pure bred lab.

And I have a shelter dog, so Id appreciate you not telling me I need to adopt. I believe in adoption just as much as you, but now we'd like to consider a pure bred labrador from a reputable breeder here in our state.

I have 2 dogs they both got fleas a little while ago. I wasnt too worried at first now I am.
I have bathed them several times, given them two of the at home flea dips, flea collars, the advantage gel stuff, flea spray including dog spray and spray for the couch/carpet - they arn't going away!!

One of my poor doggies is scratching and biting the fur off of his butt trying to scratch.

What an i do to save my dogs and my sanity from this horrid things.

I live in an apartment if that matters since i cant control the outside.

hi since september we've had to live in an infested house of fleas as soon as we found out, we:-

hoovered, bought spray from vets @ £15 went thru 2 bottles worth! - sprayed everywhere
bought dog a new bed, washed dog with flea shampoo
used frontline on him - the correct way on his skin, got him a haircut

now its october and we're still seeing them occassionally.
the dog is still biting and itchin>the other day i seen 2 in his water bowl after he drank from it - i assume they went there when he was drinking.

took him for 2x free flea check with vetinary nurse and she was hopeless couldnt tell whether he had them. although my mum says the vet can use a microscopic thing to tell?

at the moment none are jumpin on us, we dont know why?
2 weeks ago we put the heating on, and that night 2 were on me! so since then we havent put the heating on!
our big problem is storage we are slowly clearing out junk on the house..we cant call a fumigator in til we clear carpetspace.

I have been trying for a year to rehome my border collie who is "difficult". Even rescue homes have rejected her! I can no longer look after her and am desperate...and I don't use that word lightly.

I have a 13 year old female(desexed) Rottweiler, This afternoon she seemed flat just not herself, then at about 9.00pm I had to rush her to the vet, she was unbalanced and just looked sick. The vet took her blood sugar levels and she was 19.5! she has had her 1st shot of insulin and is back for more blood tests tomorrow. What I am after is anyone who has had a dog or cat with diabeties before, she will be on daily injections. Is there any tips that you can give me to help keep my baby happy and healthy, special food? Alternitive treatment? I really dont care how much it costs, I just want her to be happy, she is my baby after all.

Your requirements before placing a pup? Many come on here asking this advice. If we want them to purchase a pup properly shouldnt we help them determine " Who is and Who isnt" reputable. And do you think they would listen if we spell it out?

My dog is 14, i feel that her quality of life is very poor now. she is blind, deaf, no sense of smell, wets on carpet and her bed, arthritis and kidney problems.
yesterday she was very confused and actually stood in her food and water bowl. i know that it would be kinder to have her put to sleep. my heart is breaking but also i am worried about how my son will take it. he is 16 and has aspergers. he wont understand if i get her put to sleep.i am worried he will blame me. i thought i could take the dog to vet but bring her home and say she died but this would mean me having to go myself as my husband works during the day and son would be in at 5.30.
I feel like i am being selfish thinking about all this i love the dog so much i just dont know what to do for everyones sake.

She claims she would put them down if they were suffering, but keeps paying the vet thousands to rid them of their pain. I have tried to go with the quality of life approach instead of the suffering approach, since she keeps spending at the vet.

The house smells like dog urine. She is grinding the dogs food nightly. She has even bought diapers for the dogs for when she is at work.

The dogs have led 15+ years of happy lives, but they represent the last living thing her dead husband gave her.

Do I let the vet keep taking her money? Do I let her keep shampooing her carpets every weekend?

How do you tell someone to let them go?

I have recently found a newborn puppy dog in our suburb garden because his mother has been died and the puppy was very hungry, his mother was a vagrant dog ,It is one month I have brought puppy and I am feeding him,He is very fun and interesting sometimes me and my children hug and kiss him ,Meanwhile I am feeding him only with milk,I am afraid may he be dangerious from point of view health.I ask you how can I do? is he contaminated? (because his mother was a vagant dog )are we allowed to touch him very closely?if I vaccinate him can he be cleaned of contamiating? If so,what kind of vaccine I should have him to be injected? and what kind of foods I can feed him.
