It often helps with you gaining their attention to TEACH them. But nothing instantly happens from altering a pet. They don't gain weight either.

Neutering does often help the dog to act more calm in certain cases, and has definite medical advantages as it wards off several types of cancer. Of course, it also prevents the possibility of your dog accidentally siring a litter and thus adding to the terrible dog overpopulation problem.

But it's not a "quick fix" magic remedy. A dog that is extremely hyperactive and stubborn is not going to turn into a calm and attentive dog just because he got neutered. If your dog isn't trained properly, he will continue to do these things whether he is neutered or not.

To put it bluntly.. cutting off a dogs balls does not change them. Training is what makes a dog a good dog. A lot of people are under false assumption that neutering will make the dog a better dog. It might curb marking but it's not going to make him stop jumping on people and if you are referring to humping people.... this is a dominance issue not a wants to mate you issue. Again training is in order. How could cutting off a dogs balls make him a better listener? It's just not happening. Doesn't even make sense. Training is the key.

what you are describing is not fixed by neutering. It is in training.
Neutering will help with the dog not marking the territory as much, help with the dog wanting to wonder more, can hel to prevent some cancer. In some cases it may help in calming the dog down slightly but not really.
You may want to consider dog obedience classes for the problems you have listed.

Actually I always said it broke his male spirit! Walked around moping for days, poor thing! But after that, we thought he calmed down a lot. No more leaving the yard, chasing chickens, jumping up and down on everyone. He was a hefty black lab, and we loved the heck out of him. We only had him 8 years, and evidently got into some poison left out by the farmer working his land here. But he was the best dog! I assumed because he was neutered. A lot goes into training of course. Watch the 'dog whisperer'; he makes training simpler! (On Animal Planet channel)

placed a collar and a leash on her, and have somebody come interior the door, carry directly to the leash yet have adequate slack so as that she will run as much as the guy to greet them, while she is going to bounce tug on the leash slightly, and sternly say NO letting her comprehend that habit isn't ok. shop doing that with distinctive human beings coming interior the door, and with prepare she could end that habit! I actually have a boxer and that's how I experienced her to stay down. Boxers are very jumpy too! good success and that i'm hoping that works for you!

All of the things you described are not cured by neutering, they are cured with TRAINING.

The only thing neutering does is eliminates the dogs possibility to reproduce - "Calming down" a dog by neutering is a myth.

It did not make any difference to my dog at all.

However it is recomended if your do not intend to breed with the dog. As prostate cancer is common in older dogs that have not been castrated.
