Unless the mother has been dewormed right before giving birth, puppies and kittens will have worms and YES they need to be dewormed! Ideally, if you have a litter, they should be dewormed every 2 wks starting at 2 wks of age until 12wks of age or so. If you get a puppy or kitten say at 8 wks, it will need to be dewormed AT LEAST twice, 3 wks apart, but possibly more if it has a high worm burden or gets re-infected. This can be done at the same time as the vaccinations. The best thing you can do besides deworming is to pick up the poop and wash your hands. Remember, roundworm eggs (one of the most common worms) are viable in the ground for years, and many intestinal parasites are transmissible not only to other dogs/cats but to people too. Please see your veterinarian for further info.

Lots of puppies are born with worms. Mama even got worms from the puppies.
It's common, and the dogs just need to get their de-worming meds as scheduled.
I'm guessing cats are the same way, but I don't have any cats so I couldn't tell you for sure.

Your buddy is an fool. Worms are Parasites that invade all way of Creature`s body's and feed off the nutrition that their hosts devour. dogs's get worms at the same time as they are about the age of two months etc. usually domestic dog's that could want to be born in Junk Yards and are filthy via the age of two minutes can get worms days when they are born. besides, your buddy is a Moran. IF the mummy is having dogs's and has worms the in basic terms aspect that occurs to the domestic dogs is they get as plenty milk as they opt for. tell your chum from me that they are an fool.

Yes, newborn kittens and puppies have worms. They need to be dewormed at about 6 weeks of age and again at 8 weeks of age to completely get rid of the worms.

All puppies and kittens get worms. They should be dewormed several times as they grow. Your vet can give you a good schedule for deworming.
