Nematode is a phyla that encompasses a LOT of worms, only some of which are parasites. Check out the linked Wikipedia article.

OK, of all the ridiculous flea killing 'methods' I've heard, that has got to be number ONE.
I couldn't get the link to work, but I looked up the website because I just couldn't believe it - putting NEMATODES in your soil?! These people must be on drugs!! For one thing, nematodes do not eat fleas! Tapeworms can be found within fleas, but they don't kill them, they're transmitted to animals when the animal licks the infected flea off it's coat.
Obviously nematodes are dangerous to dogs and cats and as such should not be used around them. For flea treatment, go to a vets for something like Frontline.
I think I'm going to have to email the makers of this website for handing out such absurd, and WRONG advice. 'they feed the dead fleas to their young' - on DRUGS i tell you! Intestinal parasites don't feed their young, they don't even reproduce sexually!! I'm emailing them...
And don't use any of the other bogus methods suggested on this absurd, and frankly dangerous, website.

Why would you want to put your poor dog through that? Aren't fleas enough? Anyway, here's what you do - go to a nursery (the flower and plant kind) and get some pennyroyal (also called fleabane, squawmint or tickweed) - its main talent is to repell insects - particularly fleas! Rub crushed fresh plant around the area to be treated including your dog's bed and your dog, you can also make an infusion of this (like tea) and spray it all over your yard. This infusion can also be drunk as a digestive aid and for heartburn. (Note: do not use internally in concentrated oil form.)

That is an awful idea. If you want to get rid of fleas then use a spray or powder specifically for that purpose, you will infect your dog and any other animal that wanders into your yard if you were to start spreading parasites about the place. Although i cant imagine they would survive too well. get to your local pet store and pick something up there.

You know they do have medication the dog can take to get rid of fleas and ticks. Probably a better choice. Consult your vet.

I say its a bad idea because no matter how many times you de-worm him the round worms will remain in the yard and will just infect your dog again. Then you will have to de-worm him again and again, but thats not healthy giving your dog drugs all the time.

there are yard sprays that kill fleas/ticks and various other pests that are not harmful to dogs... one good one is permethrin...it can actually be used as a dip for the dogs as well... if you spray 3 times about 3 weeks in between sprayings, you will kill the entire life cycle...
