Our lab mix is almost 7 years old and is starting to take a little longer to get up from a laying position. I think her hips are getting a little creaky, though she doesn't seem to be in any pain, just a little slower. Any suggestions about what we can do to slow the arthritis - certain foods, OTC medications? She has been taking a joint vitamin for just a couple days that I bought at the pet store, but I wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions.

The OB King
S Is something wrong with my dog?
I've noticed something with my dogs eyes. She is a year and a half and just recently she has these white "eye lid" type things appearing every so often from the bottom corners of her eyes. This causes the eyes to narrow and quite honestly looks scary! It doesn't seem to bother her but looks frightening. Is this normal?

My little man has a big fedish with underwear no one else just mine. He will dig through the hamper and find them if he has to. Any ways to break this or why he is doing so? Also does anyone know any ways to break a dog of ripping the house apart when he is left alone. He is fine all day long is someone is with him or at least in the house as soon as you leave he goes on the mission of destorying the house. We do not want to cage him or put him out side winter is comming soon and we just dont believe in having a dog that must be out side. He also loves rocks. Eats dirt every day, thinks he is a goat he loves grass i mean its not like he doesnt have enough to eat he is a big boy already problaly about 30 lbs. A little help please....

I am going to my Aunt's house for a week next week. Her 6 month old puppy has it she is doing 100% better shes going to come out of it. But I have 5 dogs and my husband and i will be staying at her house for a week. I was worrying about my dogs getting it from me bringing home blankets and clothes and whatever else. She bleached EVERYTHING including her carpet because shes getting new carpet soon. She was talking to her vet and they said it should be fine but i just wanted a second opinion.

OK, I am totally confused why my 1 year old female spayed daschund is humping my 4 mo old male kitten. The kitten isn't neutered yet because he is too young, but he hasn't hit his "time" either so I don't understand why my girl dog would want to hump him? My dog is constantly licking everything also (including herself). Her breath stinks from licking herself all of the time and it keeps me up at night because it is so noisy. We have had the kitten for a little over a month now and this behavior just started a few days ago. They play well together and seem to be best friends...until my dog goes humping crazy and the cat just wants to run away. Is this normal?? And why does she lick herself and everything else ALL the time??

Today, when I came home from work, my neighbor was out playing with his puppies. He was rolling on the ground with them, barking at them, etc... Has anyone else witnessed something like this? The guy is 20 years old. I guess he just loves his puppies.

My yorkie is 6 pounds and we think she is 6 weeks pregnant. When will we be able to tell for sure if she is pregnant or not? When is the earliest that the vet can tell us how many puppies and the size? When will she start showing?

First let me say I absolutely love dogs and spent 11 years training dogs with focus on protection and agility training. I love pit bulls and have worked with many pit bulls. I understand not ALL pit bulls are dangerous and a well bred, well raised pit bull can be a trusted loving member of a family. What I object to is people that say pit bulls are the same as any other dog when it comes to the chance of an attack on a human. This is absolutely, without any doubt, not true. The facts and numbers don't lie, I will paste a site below that confirms all that I will say. From 1979 to 1998 PUREBRED pit bulls accounted for 66 fatal attacks on humans, more then any other breed on the planet earth. Next were Rots with 39, German Shepherds with 17, Sib Husky with 15, and Malamutes with 12. Any other dogs listed had 1 or 2. Let me repeat that, purebred pit bulls had 66 FATAL attacks on humans, the most of any dog on the planet earth.

I work from 8:30 to 5:30. I have been potty traing for 3 weeks and I don't think she is catching on. I have strarted going home for lunch to take her outside and when I get there she has already destroyed my kitchen poop and pee everywhere and she tears up the pee pee pads in to little cotton balls. She sleeps in her cage at night so I don't like to lock her during the day.Today I came home for lunch and was so aggrevated so I put her outside for 20 minutes while I cleaned and then took her for a walk and I put her in her cage before I left until I get home around 5:30. Is it a bad idea to lock her in her in her cage when I go to work then take her out at lunch time and put her back in then take her out when I get home and then put her back when she has to go to sleep ONLY until she is potty trained then she can freely rome around the house? How long before she can hold her bladder? I have a Female pitbull (very Friendly).

This might sound weird, but... my 10 month old puppy doesn't seem to know how to jump! His back legs are strong, and he's an amazing runner, but when we hold a treat up in the air to get him to jump he stretches up, and would prefer to totter about on his hind legs instead.

Are there any safer ways to teach my dog to jump? And do you think the fact that he can't yet is weird?

10 points for best answer. The dog is a West highland white terrier, white, small, intellegent, likes to dig, doesn't like to get dirty, scotish, no too human like, and not really common. So could you please give me a list, let me repeat that, a list of dogs names to choose from.

My hubby drug home a pregnant hairless several weeks back. The person who owned her didn't want her because she had ran off in season rather than mating with the other crested. Anyway, she had her pups, I had her shots and found a home for her. I have given away three pups so far. One of the hairless puppies that is left is cryptorchid. I have someone who wants him, which would be fine, but I want to make sure he is neutered if necessary due to the defect.

My question is--
Is anyone familiar with this breed? How late can the gonads descend? These puppies are almost eight weeks old. Is it possible they will still descend or not? I don't want to give him away to a stranger just incase they aren't a person who would care for him correctly due to the cryptorchidism. I won't keep him or any of them myself. But I can't just give him to someone who won't care for him. Dr says they might still come down? opinions?

Hello all - I've searched the answers here and can't seem to tell whether or not my cardigan corgi is in heat or she's sick. She has had no bleeding that I can tell of, but she is enlarged, she's peeing more frequently, licking herself constantly, and my 5yr old male cardigan licks the floor wherever she has been sitting. They are both leash trained and have not been out of my sight, he is neutered, but we did have an "incident" at the beach about 5wks ago with a male puppy trying to mount her, but it did not seem successful as I got to her and picked her up quickly. Do you all have any ideas? thanks in advance for your help.
