I am going to my Aunt's house for a week next week. Her 6 month old puppy has it she is doing 100% better shes going to come out of it. But I have 5 dogs and my husband and i will be staying at her house for a week. I was worrying about my dogs getting it from me bringing home blankets and clothes and whatever else. She bleached EVERYTHING including her carpet because shes getting new carpet soon. She was talking to her vet and they said it should be fine but i just wanted a second opinion.

YES; it is possible you could bring it home to your dogs.

Parvo Virus is known to survive on inanimate objects - such as clothing, food pans, and cage floors - for 5 months and longer in the right conditions. Insects and rodents may also serve as vectors playing an important role in the transmission of the disease. All parvoviruses are extremely stable and are resistant to adverse environmental influences such as low pH and high heat. Exposure to ultraviolet light and sodium hypochlorite (a 1:32 dilution of household bleach - ½ cup bleach to 1 gallon of water) can inactivate parvovirus. The bleach solution can be impaired by organic matter and needs to have adequate exposure time and proper concentrations to work effectively. The normal incubation period (time from exposure to the virus to the time when signs of disease appear) is from 7-14 days. Active excretion of the virus in the feces can begin the third day after exposure, often before clinical signs appear, and may last for one to two weeks after the onset of the disease.

If you give him any human food at all, even in small amounts when your dog isn't use to it, it could cause some digestive issues. Give your dog a tablespoon of Pepto Bismal to help stop the diarrhea. My dog is about the same size as yours and that is what his vet told me to do. It works very well. I don't think his food is the problem since he's always been on it. The chicken may have thrown off his digestive system. Especially if it was fried or breaded. You can give him the Pepto Bismal once every 8 hours. Try and use a plastic eye dropper or a plastic syringe. It will make it a lot easier. The first time I did it I used a spoon and my dog started to spit it out while flinging his head from side to side. I was covered with it and so was my carpet. Dogs hate it but, it really works.

Well, I know that Parvo can remain in the area of where the infected dog was for 6 months to a year. Bleaching everything is the best that she could've done, but I know I wouldn't take the chance. And yes, if it is still present in her house you can bring it home on anything of yours.... shoes, clothes, etc.

there's still a chance that you could bring parvo home to your dogs.
I will stay away from there for a few weeks, but if you haveto go, call the vet before hand and see about extra precautions that you can take.
also how old are your dogs.
There isa very very slim chance that an adult dog can get parvo.

Yes it is possible to carry it on your shoes and clothing. Pups are more susceptible to getting it since they have an immature immune system; very rarely is an adult dog effected by it. If your worried about your dogs risk of getting it from you bringing it back to them ask your vet what he thinks, if they aren't pups they'll most likely be fine.

Here's good site with some Parvo FAQs that may help you.

should be fine....famous last words....
I would not chance it, even though my dogs are vaccinated, some breeds, like my rotties are more susceptible to it. Ask your vet, check your shot records and make sure you are "hospital" clean when you come home, if you do go.
Can you reschedule your visit? I am sure she would be understanding, but a little upset, after all, she will miss you. But, given all the he double hockey sticks she has been thru with the parvo, I am sure she will understand, most Auntie's are sweeties.

Parvo is everywhere. The only thing you can do to protect your dogs from Parvo is to vaccinate them. If they are vaccinated, then your pups will be fine. If not...they'll get it. Parvo can be transmitted just by walking across the floor and carrying it back on your shoes.

If your pups are vaccinated, then they are ok.

If your dogs are vaccinated, and you sterilize you shoes with bleach and wash all of your clothes with hot water before you go home, then your dogs should be OK.If your dogs are not vaccinated, then I suggest you take them to be vaccinated before you go,and sterilize everything you have before you even step into your car, yard or house,or put off your trip altogether.

It's very important to make sure your own dogs are current on their vaccinations.
Yes, parvo is deadly and can be "carried" from one place to another...
