I got a German Sheperd and I don't know when I should train him. He is already 1 month old and he's going to be 2 months old on october 14. When I try to train him he always thinks i'm playing with him and he bites me. He learned how to sit by himself and he kinda knows how to shake hands. But when is it a good time to teach him tricks?

They kill them? Its not humanely is it?

Why is this ok? Please tell me. This is not justifiable..

There not humans, so who cares? Is that what it boils down to? No one caring? The dont count because their just "dogs"?

I have news for you, my dog is better to me than a lot of human beings have been..

WHy is this ok!!?? What will it take to stop this? I know people have to stop buying from them, but unfortunatly there are ignorant jerks out there that would rather take the cheaper way and not have to wait for a reputable breeder to breed her next litter.. which could be a year or more. And some people dont want a shelter dog for whatever reason.

And ofcourse, some people are not stupid.. they just dont know. This is why the government actualy needs to do something.

Back to my question.. what are they REALLY doing with these poor animals when they are not able to breed any longer?

My sisters dog seems to have gotten a black eye somehow while we were at school. At first I thought it was allergy related, but when I looked it up on the internet, I found that it's pretty unlikely seeing as it would probably affect both of his eyes and would be itchy. It looks more like he ran into something or hit something. Aside from the outside darkness/redness around his eye, it looks like his pupil has also become reddened. What should we do? Is it serious?

The more I read about the breed, the more I think she could be one. Yes, this is all speculation, but what do you think?

On Tollers:

Don't you worry, no matter what she is or isn't, she's a good dog and I'll love her regardless. Her breed is just a fascinating puzzle to me.

Let me just whine for a few minutes here...
You all know me probably. I posted alot about my new puppy and when I finally got him, I posted alot about taking care of him. I should've listened to you yahoo users. taking care of a puppy ALONE is the most hardest thing ive done in my life and it's only been a week. I have several major projects assigned in school, joined three after school clubs, and I'm completely stressed out here. I also can't help but to think about my future.. If I'm stressed now, how will I manage during my junior year? Will my dog ever learn how to take care of himself when I'm away? I don't know why I didn't think about this before I got him.. I think rushed into getting him too quickly. I definately want to keep my baby but I'm just SO EXHAUSTED AND STRESSED!!
...so who wants to comfort me and give me some advice on how to deal?? (please be nice and dont tell me to give up my baby, i love him to death.)

I was talking to someone about getting a puppy. She's an excellent, responsible breeder who has been in her breed for decades and has produced some excellent dogs. I would be showing this dog in conformation and probably some other fun sports like agility, obedience and tracking.

I've never had an intact dog. Can you tell me what it's like to have an intact *****? There are no intact males living in the same household.

If you're more comfortable answering privately than posting for all to see about not-neutered dogs, feel free to do so.

Any experience about this would be appreciated. Here are some of my thoughts, but if you have anything else, that'd be cool.
How difficult is it to keep an intact *****?
Do you know before she goes into heat? Are there other signs before the first blood?
How regular are the heats? Can you say "it's about time for her to go into heat"?
Is it always obvious she's in heat? Aren't there "silent heats"?
Is there any personality differences?

Have you heard of *'taste of the wild'* brand pet foods?
I went to purchase Petfood today and almost bought this new brand instead, because its *grain free* which is the ONLY complaint that I have about Canidae and Felidae. I wish they would come out with a grain free food.

ANYWAY, would love to hear some thoughts on this new food from you all.
I went ahead and bought some of the cat food since I was out but decided to wait on the dog food since Ive still got enough for a few more days.

One of my cats bit a hole through the bag trying to get in it before I could open it!

The ONLY thing that worries me is that I think its made by Diamond, their newest brand. Heres the link:

Heres the link to their ingredients just click on the product....sounds better than Canidae and Felidae to me! BUT, I want to know what YOU think.

My dog is severely under weight. He is 58 pounds and needs to be at least 78 to be healthy but we can't get him to gain! He can't get fatty or gressy foods and we just got some food from the vet but he doesn't like it! Please does anyone know some foods we can feed him that are "bland foods"? the vets say to keep him on a bland diet so he won't get upset tummy and lose more. He doesn't have heartworm or any parasites, so thats not the problem and he's seen lots of different vets, but he looks like he is going to fall over and I don't want to lose my puppy!

1 year ago i sold a puppy to a lady & she calls me out of the blue and asks if i would want it back because it sheds to much and is a bully with her other dog, i said sure i will find a good home for it, calls back 1 week later & says she changed her mind, i said thats fine. 1 more week later she calls and says i changed my mind i need to get rid of him, pick him up tonight at my house, which i did. 2 days after that she calls & says she will give me his papers, etc, everything was fine. 2 HOURS later she calls & says no I want him back I made a mistake! Am I obligated to give her the dog back after the verbal agreement that I would take him, & knowing he is going to a much better home with other dogs he can actually play with?
