I walk daily 1.5 miles. Sometimes I take our pit bull with us. Should I bring water for him and if so how often should we stop for a water break. On HOT days I do take him water and stop about 3 times.

My dog has lymes disease and he is very ill. He has trouble breathing, walking, eating, drinking, and he is very weak. We love him so much and we don't want him to die. We had him for 10 years. Should we let the vets put him to sleep? Or should we try to help him with medicines or a kind of surgery? Please try and help if you can. Thanks a bunch!

Ok my mom just found a rottweiler dog 2 days ago around where we live and she is the best dog ever. Many people dump dogs where i live so i decided i want to keep it. She responds best to the name princess for some reason perhaps was her name with previous owners. We been feeding her "Gravy Train" dog food which we been feeding my two other dogs that. We took her to meet a lady from pet friends. She est. she is one year old and does not have a chip, no fleas and is in great condition. She is very playful and loves people. Though we dont know what she was fed but we feed her 2 full drinking glass size cups of the food twice a day and if we let her, she would eat the entire bag herself. BUT when she goes to eat, she immediately ends up getting runny poo poo like size of cow patties lol. Anyone got a solution and i live in PA if that makes a difference on dog food.

Is it true that they do not get fleas since they have hair and not fur or is that just a myth?

What would you do if your state was to pass a law saying that all dogs had to be spayed or neutered?
Or no dogs could be bred?

My puppy is four months old and he doesn't listen!!

He doesn't like any toys but sticks (I've bought MANY different ones for him, including teething bones)

He is very dependent, and doesn't learn when I am gone for more than a day--he's just that much more anxious and excited when I get home.

He is also not training well. He knows how to sit and that's all. He won't consitently come and he won't lay or stay. What is the best way for me to teach him these other commands? I've tried leash and training with a second person, but he doesn't truly enjoy the treats I give him--I've even bought him gourmet liver treats and he still turns his head.

Help!

I am a senior in high school this year. I'm unsure what I want to major in when I get to college. I would really appreciate it if some people who are vets or are in the process of becoming one, could give me some detailed information such as: do you have to be super smart?; what does it take?; are classes very difficult?; is it worth it?; is it hard to get into vet school?; please...anything will be helpful....I would greatly appreciate it....I have a huge LOVE for animals, especially dogs.
P.S. If you don't mind, could you tell me what your ACT scores were or should be for people wanting to enter this career? I would just like to compare mine with Veternarians. Thank you.

What kind of health checks do you do before going on to a competitive level with your dog? Is it sufficient for the vet to tell you the dog is physically sound from a basic look over, or do you do/want more than this?

I am not any where near ready for competition, only doing weekly classes so far, but wondered what others do to ensure their dogs are healthy and physically sound for this dog sport. I do plan to throw these questions at my agility trainer, but am curious as to what others see as needed before competing properly?

He was in the pound for the weekend because they are closed until Monday at 0800. I brought him home and he was exhausted. He drank about 2 gallons of water yesterday and lay out on the back lawn in the green grass exhausted. He didnt even come to the gate when I got home like he usually does. He slept all day and last nite he didnt bark once. He is usually woofing at the owls in the tree next to our house and barks when the newspaper guy delivers, but not yesterday.
He is hoarse as he can be. I think he probably barked until he made himself hoarse in the pound. Any suggestions to make him get his voice back? Will we just have to wait this one out?
