We have a six year-old chocolate lab. My wife was in a recent car accident and neither of us is able to get the dog out for daily exercise. Is it better to keep the dog and have her getting sporadic exercise or would it be better to allow her to find a new home.

I asked this before without pics, and got a mix of answers. I was hopeing, if I showed it someone could tell me, if this is a sign of hip pain? She has no problems getting up and down.

A couple of days ago i realized my yorkie had some black spots by her behind, but it was like crusty stuff not fleas. so i didnt think anything of it till today i called my sister and asked what they look like...she told me so i started digging and sure enough i found them. I have picked 3 off of her, but my male has them too, they dont seem to bother my male every now and then he will scratch, but my female is digging all the time. I dont know what is better frontline of the K-9 advantage. I also want to know how fast they will work. My sister said that if i dont see them anywhere in the house it probably hasnt spread that far yet, i dont see them on any of my socks or sheets or anything, so will treating my dogs and yard be enough, i have two small children so i dont want to use harsh cemicals around the house. HELP please, i have never seen them before today!

My dog has had an ear infection for quite some time, I dont have pet insurance and at the moment not alot of money to take him to the vet, I’m very concerned about my dogs ear. They are very red and very swollen and each ear feels thick and heavy.
He makes noises when he constantly scratches his ears.
There is very dark earwax and a stinky odor coming from both ears.
His ears now have scabs on them and small open wounds because he scratches too much.
I’m now to the point of using gloves and pain reliving Neosporin all over his ear inside and out. Its got to at least if anything feel better. I have purchased from a pet store ear might drops that are not helping at all. I am looking for antibiotics that I can buy at a local pet store. A little bit about my dog Toby he’s a mix of Boston terrier, British pit bull, lab mix type animal and he has floppy ears VERY CUTE BOY!!!!
I need some major advice on what I can do and\or buy for my boy.
Any advice besides advice on taking him to the vet.

We found a Beagle walking the streets. He almost got ran over by a car so we let her in the fence. Nobody claimed her and she didn't have any tags, I can see where someone may have thought she was cute and bought her, then decided she was just too much and dumped her, she is very active...very! So the kids got attached to her and here she is. Who gets to take care of her...you guessed it Mom! I've read all about the dogs breed, sounds like a lot of work. We have a Great Dane and they get along well. It's just the Great Dane's so much easier to care for(imagine that). What should we do keep the Beagle and work hard trying to train this stubborn thing, or break the children's hearts and find her a new home? We live in a small town so that will be hard to do, and the animal shelter here isn't a desirable place to be. What do I do?

My husband and I Just got two new puppies, one american pit and the other 7/8 lab and rest pit. Everyones telling us all these horror storries about them and that we shouldnt have children if we have the dogs. I know they are bread fighting dogs, but is it not in how you raise them? Weve had them both for a month now and they are normal puppies, and smart as ever. Why do people think they are so bad?

This is so gross, why do they do this? I know sometimes my pup does it cuz he has a piece hanging off LOL, but sometimes he does it out of the blue, does that mean he has to go potty?

This person claims this puppy is pure bred. I do not think so. It looks like Rottweiler mixed with Pit Bull. Can someone else reconfirm this? She keeps telling me it is. How can I prove to her that it isn't?

because I had noticed him coughing quite a bit and having a runny nose. The vet said he has pnuemonia. There is a chance he may not make it because his is so young and small (8 weeks, 1 1/2 lbs.) The vet recommended I return him to the breeder and get a refund, but I refuse to do that because the breeder was obviously not taking care of this baby and let him get this sick. I'm not going to let him die just so I can get my money back. He started antibiotics yesterday, I am keeping him warm and comfortable day and night, not letting him out in the cold, giving him all the love and attention he wants, and I have a "Vicks Vapor Plug-In" next to his crate at night to try to help clear up his chest (vet recommended this). I am very worried about my little guy. If anyone else has had an experience with pnuemonia, please let me know if there is anything else besides what I listed above that I can do for him. Thank you so much (and my little Wilson thanks you too!)

My 3 month old border collie/maybe lab mix since we got him has always had watery stool and going alot every day maybe 5x, he has been to the vet and everything for vaccinations and check up. He was underweight when I first got him about 2 weeks ago, he's been slowly gaining though. He was sick too (kennel cough) thats why I thought watery stool then but hes all better from that.
I feed him dry innova for puppies (i have another puppy JRT who's 6 months old and give her the same thing)
At first he wouldn't eat his food but my JRT wouldnt eat it good at first either so i mix 1/10th of a banana in their food, he eats 2 cups a day or a little more. When I stoped the banana his stool was still alot and watery. He goes to the vet in 2 weeks for more vaccines. But do you think he's sick? he doesnt act sick any other way. I heard Innova causes diarrhea is that true?Should I feed something else? THANKS

we shaved him for the hot summer months. I went on the internet later on and realized that its recommended this isn't done for this breed. This is the first time we've done it to him, will their be any long term effects?

My brother has a 1-1/2 y/o Brittany Spaniel. Beautiful animal with no papers. My dear brother got into his mind he wants to breed his dog so he can have a from his beloved dog. I gave him all the arguments about dogs overpopulation etc. but of course these words are just from me his big sister so what I need is to back up my sayings by sending him websites discouraging backyard breeding.

Hope you guys can help me with that.

Many thanks!

My female dog went through her first heat about 3 weeks ago. My male, neutered, dog was obviously very interested in her and mounted numerous times. My female now has swollen nipples but I'm not sure if this is just because she went through her first heat or if perhaps the male has a botched neuter job. YIKES! Any thoughts?

Many people have suggested that I use a prong collar in my training of Sydney (my Siberian Husky) with her dog-aggression.

I've been reading about them- proper fit, proper position, proper use. We just got one yesterday.

I have confidence in it, as she immediately started to walk less forcefully when we put it on her. I've heard of people having great success.

However....
She lunged a couple times yesterday at the park (once at a squirrel and once at another dog. When she lunged, she let out an audible yelp. To put it in perspective- she's a very "sensitive" girl- if you tap her with your foot, she'll freak out, thinking she was going to get hurt. She also "overreacts" about what she interprets to be a physical threat, when there really is none.

I tried the collar on myself and I didn't think it was pleasant- but I know dogs have a bit tougher skin, so I wasn't worried at first. Am I doing the right thing? I don't want to hurt her.
