It should be down by now but you can give it a few more weeks and make his neuter appointment. If it has not dropped they will have to go in to get it. Its called cryptorchid and it is a more evasive surgery than a regular neuter but it is necessary.

Also it is possible its there and you can not see it. It may still be right behind the other. It will have to be examined by someone to tell for sure.

The latest I've ever seen a second testicle drop is about 5 months...but that was way out of the norm.

Can you find the other testicle? If it's up in his abdomen, under the skin, chances are pretty good it's never going to drop into the scrotum. If, OTOH, it's in there with the other one sometimes, and other times not, it will probably come down for good by the time the puppy is about 3 months.

If you can't find it at all, chances are pretty good that you won't, and your dog will be monorchid. Dogs like this should be neutered, since the "missing" testicle (hiding in the abdomen) can easily become cancerous. Another reason to neuter is to prevent them from breeding and passing on this (hereditary trait). Sometimes monorchid dogs are infertile, but often they are not.

It still might drop. Like many others have said. Wait about 6 months and then if it hasn't dropped have the vet remove it. Are you sure that he has both? Some dogs don't. I think they can do an ultrasound to see if the other one is there. You probably should ask your vet the next time your puppy has his shots.

Maybe, maybe not. The latest I had one come down was 10 months. This was on a show dog, that is why he wasnt nuetered at 6 months. If your boy is a pet, get him nuetered at 5 or 6 months old and then the undescended testicle will be removed. This will prevent testicular problems later in life. At this point, it is not hurting him to not be down. I doubt it is actually in his stomach, the cord on it is probably just short.
Good Luck

It actually might not ever come out! So if you are planning on neutering him make sure you tell your vet about it (usually boys get snipped around 6-8 months so they can "grow into their personality"). My friend got a pug from the shelter and they thought it was neutered, but when they she took it to her vet they said that he had his internally.
But he is still young and they may just have to wait to "drop". I think my dog had the same thing going on at that young of an age. Either way, your puppy is fine with having one up and one down! He won't be made fun of by all the other dogs at the dog park! Good luck!

To the first two responders: oh, grow up!

If it is going to drop, it should do so by about four months, though some vets will recommend waiting until six months or so to see if it happens. If it doesn't drop, the dog must be neutered (hopefully you were planning on doing that anyway) in order to avoid future medical problems because of the retained testicle.

The other one may not drop, and if it doesn't you will have to get him neutered. I had a puppy who had to be neutered because only one of his testicals dropped. I would consult a vet, and they will most likely give him a timeline for the other to drop, if it doesn't by that time they will want to neuter him. Good luck!

It may never come down. This is referred to as monorchid or cryptorchid. He should be neutered at 6-8 months as not neutering can cause cancer in dogs.

If the testicle is in his stomach, it's not coming out.

Normally by 9 weeks of age, both testicles are there.. Get him neutered before that retained testicle causes him problems.

It won't my dog has a recested testicle and he has to have surgery to get it removed. As the vet says it can cause abdominal problems and possible cancer so he will be getting neutred soon.
