oh these dogs are horrible, been living next to some for some years,
they guard the children like they are their own blood. I have seen them actually keep the kids from running into the street on occassion, think of it, the dogs are preventing the kids from getting hit by a car, the rude dogs
I have seen the dogs keep a stalker away from my neighbors wife when he was working late. (did not actually see the dog run him off, was awakened by the police to see if I had heard or seen anything. think of it, some dog preventing crime...how rude
on two occassions the dogs got out and were laying on the front porch. I had to walk them back one at a time and put them back in the yard. Mind you these are full grown pit bulls, you don't pick them up by the back of the neck and walk with them. Had I been able to get each to bite an arm, then I could have carried them together, but no, the dogs just would not bite me.....so I had to walk them one at a time.
the only bad pit bulls are abused and ones left on chains, but any dog will go mean if chained.
I have always lived with dogs and have never found any dog to be bad unless it was abused

People assume that all of them are dangerous because it's the image that's been projected to the general uninformed public. Those of us who take the time to see that not all of them are mean, and that when raised properly are some of the best dogs in the world, know they aren't killers. And that's what matters the most. I've got a pit bull (most likely presa canario mix). Everyone thought it was bad enough that she's a good majority pit. But when we found out her father is most likely presa canario...nobody will go near her. And she's been trained and socialized extensively since she was 12 weeks old, that's when we adopted her from a shelter. She's the same dog she's always been, and yet..nobody wants to be around her because they think she's mean. And she's not at all. People are misinformed and believe everything they hear in the media and take it upon themselves to bash the breed. When really, it's not their fault. They didn't ask to be bred for fighting, or to be used as fight dogs...It's the owners that make them that way. And yet you don't see these people that put down pit bulls so much, saying anything about the disgusting pigs that fight the dogs and give them that reputation.
I'd like to remind everyone...ANY DOG CAN BE MEAN AND ATTACK OR BITE AT ANY TIME! NOT JUST PIT BULLS.

The problem is not the dog. It's the way it's raised. Some dogs tend to be more aggressive in nature than others. Any dog can be raised to be vicious no matter what breed it is. If a pit bull tends to attack people, it is not normal for the breed, and it means that there is something wrong with it, and should probably be put down. Give your dogs lots of love and affection (obedience training would be a good idea too), and they will be very loving companions. Also, make sure they are exposed to a lot of people, so that when one approaches them, they will not react in a negative way. Good luck.

Love breeds love and kindness breeds kindness. I have a male pit bull that is 6 years old. I have owned him since he was 2 weeks old, the mom wouldn't feed her pups. Max is the best dog I have ever owned. He has such personality. He is loving, loyal, protective, funny, all wrapped up in one dog.He sleeps with me....I swear this dog can smile! I was always afraid of pits until my son rescued max and gave him to me. I never allow this dog outside without me and he is always on a leash. He is very beautiful, and I know someone would try and take him, and he would end up with a fate worse than death. I woudl never own any other kind of dog now but a pit bull. They are the best. A member of my family.

Ignorance about the breed. I have three "Female" Pit bulls living under 1 roof in which 2 of them I found as strays. with the right pack leader and a firm hand, all three stay in line with each other. I have no jealousy fights whatsoever. I know how to make them get along. Most people are irrisponsible owners and dont know about pit bull terriers.

I have seen the best and the worst of this breed. It really boils down to the way they are raised & bred. My best friend has a female and she is so loving and docile. On the other hand I had neighbors that had pits who fought and my husbands ex-wife had pits that fought. I noticed the environments in wich they were raised contributed to the dogs personality!
Pitbulls are from the "terrier" group. The terrrier groups were bred initially to hunt and get rid of vermin. There personalties are suppose to be aggressive and brave b/c of what they were bred to do. This ranges from the Yorkshire Terrier all the way up to Pitbulls.
Your dogs are perfect. Just surf the net and arm yourself w/ some facts to fire back at people when they try and tell you how evil these dogs are.

I had a pit we got her when she was just like 2months or so from my brother , She was the sweetest thing she was never aggressive very playful and we had her for like 7years she was spoiled by my husband a couple days ago she escaped from the gate and we cannot find her . Dogs are going to be mean if you make them mean not because they are what others consider to be a agressive breed they are all not .....
There are some small dogs that could be just as mean and aggressive..Well take care of your new puppies

It IS how you raise them. I have known 2 different people who had pits and they were super sweet. You can kiss their faces and everything. One of them has 3 children. I have a wolf/hybrid that spent the first year and 2 monthes of his life in the wild on Kodiak, Alaska. He's 14 now and I've never had a problem with him. I have a rottweiler/chow also, and thought she can be super protective over me, for the most part she is very sweet. When she is protective, she will calm down when I tell her it's OK. So yes, it is how you raise them, but with any dog you should always be careful with children or strangers, also while a dog is eating or sleeping.

Just fear and negative media attention . I get this all the time w/ my Doberman. I just try to show them how My dog is the opposite. My dog loves kids, is gentle and trained. This usually changes their perception. But since our breeds are very strong and powerful, it is extra important for us to ensure we are responsible owners. Many people don't take into account the other aggressive breeds like chows or sharpeis, akitas , even the small toy breeds..they bite just not as hard as the bigger dogs.

It depends on how you raise them. I've always feared them, but after having a neighbor across the street that has one I see how they take care of him and he's a good Pit Bull, no problems whatsoever and he's not aggressive, lots of kids in the neighborhood too. But I couldn't say the same about every owner that I know who has them...
