Don't feel bad.....you're not perfect and you can't be, nobody can. My oldest is 6 and my other is 4....you should hear the stories I have. One time..it was this school year I packed a lunch for my daughter, I ask her how her lunch was after school like I always do and she said good, but I noticed she didn't eat all of her Lunchable. So I ask her why and she said she didn't have enough time because she ate her sandwich first. I was like what sandwich(I didn't pack her one) Her lunch box has a bottom compartment for a sandwich box so they don't get smushed and apparently one day she didn't eat her sandwich and ate it that day. I have no idea how long it was in there it was probably weeks, it was ham I think...she didn't get sick but I felt so horrible! She said it was all dry and hard...poor baby. Needless to say I check to see what's in her lunchbox now. Everyone makes mistakes....don't worry about it.

Don't feel like a bad mum. It's not the end of the world--kids put everything in their mouths.

Is your Yorkie healthy? If so, you have no cause for worry. The things that can be transmitted from dog to human--worms, for the most part--are usually found in dogs which do not receive good vet care. If you're unsure, just take a sample of the dog's stool and ask a vet to check it.

The most you can expect would probably be some tummy upset from your son, since he'll have been exposed to intestinal bacteria he probably doesn't have in his own system yet. That shouldn't be a problem, though, because dogs and humans use most of the same kinds of bacteria to help digest food, since they're both omnivores and generally live together.

I feel your pain! My toddler gets into everything. When was the last time that your dog had a fecal exam?? That would be the first thing that I would get checked. If everything comes back ok, then I wouldn't worry about it. I would mention the situation to the vet thought just in case there are other zoonotic diseases (transmitted from animal to human or vice versa) that the dog may have. Good luck!

As long as the dog doesn't have worms, the baby should be fine. Don't beat yourself up....my kids used to eat the dogs' food out of their bowls, one of them once bit the heck out of the dog, and I was accidently poked myself with a syringe when I was giving puppies parvo/distemper shots and I was 8 months pregnant....all my kids turned out just fine....they rarely ever got sick, and 2 of the 3 have already graduated from college, the youngest is in his 3rd year of pre-med on full scholarship at a private university, and they owe it all to living with pets all their lives, a steady diet of dog hair, and bad housekeeping!

Don't worry about it. I ate a bug when I was little before my parents could stop me. Every kid most likely eats something strange when they get into their "putting everything in their mouth" stage.
