My dog died in July. He was 2.5 and had an unexpected illness. I miss him terribly! :(

My rabbit was 2.5 years old too when he left. He acted like a little doggy all the way and he was really special to us and we were all heartbroken when we woke up one morning and he was gone. It is really hard to get through the death of a pet and something little will always remind you of him. Everything that I do used to be associated with my bunny. I miss him terribly too. But one day I saw this bunny that looked EXACTLY like my deceased pet. And I couldn't resist. Everything is now normal in my daily process because I am so used to having a pet around that I love the new one.

I am serious that they look exactly the same. They even have the same spot in their fur in the same place and blue eyes.

I hope my words helped.
But you should judge for yourself. Think really hard about it, because you can't give the dog back when you get it.

Best of luck, & I'm sorry for your loss.

Do whatever eases your heart. When I had to put my dog to sleep, I couldn't wait longer than 2 weeks before I got a new puppy. Some people just can't be without a dog, and having one around will also help you adjust to your loss.

Don't listen to anyone who tells you that you must wait a certain amount of time. Do whatever you feel you need.

I think if you can't stop thinking about getting another dog, then you are ready. GO FOR IT!!!

You should probably wait until you are out of the greiving process. There are many people that get a new dog and spoil it and the poor dog starts destroying the house and acting aggressively because the owners are too sad to set boundaries for the new pup.
