three years ago my 26 yr. brother gave me his dog. he did not lend it or suggest i watch it till he can take it back. he flat out gave it to me and my children. we are close to her and have been withher thru a litter of puppies and my oldest son is very close to her. now my brother thinks he's a dog whisperer himself after watching a few episodes of the show with the same name and NOW wants his dog back. i say no! and frankly i have paid a medical bill for our dog and she's quite close to us all. despite his immaturity for thinking it'd be okay to do this, can he legally take our family pet away!?

I saw an ad at a supermarket that said that they'd give a $500 reward if you found their dog. Is there anyone that would actually take that money? I'd just be happy to find someone's dog for them....

Just wondering because i might get one. And i dont want a name that's really a "dog" name, because all of the dogs that i have had were part of the family and they had a name that was like "tony" or "hailey" or something like that.

*i was thinking of naming her claire*

*i don't have the dog yet, and i don't know or care what color she is or what she looks like...i just want to know what you would name your little tiny female puppy! lol*

I put my dog Tallulah in Water Dog and Best Friend categories and I clicked on the categories and my profile and I don't see anything...even though I know a few friends have cast votes.
Do I just wait until the competition is done??

I just started feeding my dogs raw diet and they are doing amazing on it. But I don't know whether or not the full meal raw diet has all the vitamins and everything in it that my dogs need or if I am supposed to add my own. I know you can buy the meat on it's own and add supplements that are needed, but I am buying the full meal stuff so would all that be included. And my one dog if a large breed puppy so I add glucosamine in it but should I be adding calcium as well??

my dog at home is vaccined including vaccined for bordetella(kennel cough) can he still catch kennel cough if i adopt a dog from a shelter that has been in an airborne kennel cough area? most dogs we adopt out get the kennel cough after being adopted, im wondering if my dog who's already vaccined could still get it. if i adopt this dog from the shelter, right now she does not have kennel cough. and my dog at home never has had it and is vaccined. any one know about this stuff?

I am looking to buy a dog. I want it to be small-medium. I want a breed that doesn't look like it's supposed to be small but where the dog looks like it's permanently stuck as a puppy... Maybe a mini something? Any ideas?

Dogs are animals. As human beings we eat animals. We might not eat dogs but we do eat beef, chicken, pork, fish, and many other types of animals.
Is it not something wrong with the fact that some people care more about their dogs than they do about the homeless children on the street. Some people openly state that they would rather have a dog than a child.
Aren't children the blessing of life? Aren't animals what God gave to Adam to keep him company, busy, and occupied. Was not a human given to Adam because animals were not enough.
So, where in life have people grown to love animals more than they love their neighbors.
Think of Michael Vick. He is losing his freedom behind an animal. He killed dogs. Not people, dogs. How can Michael Vick lose his job, freedom, and respect by killing dogs and some man or officer across town gets respect for killing a person that they "thought" would harm them?
Why is the world becoming so passionate over dogs?

I got him from the animal shelter two weeks ago, and they said that the mom was a shepherd mix, but they dont know what the dad is. He is only 12 weeks old and hes already almost 35 pounds, and isnt fat at all, he just had a growth spurt and is kind of skinny. And he has HUGE feet. Also, i dont know if this has anything to do with what kind he is, but his tail is soooo long! he can slap himself in the face with it! He had a brother with him at the shelter, and he was a little bigger, and he was Brindle. Please Help!!!

His cage is definitely not too big. I've read all the other questions/answers on here but non of them fit my situation. If anything he'll need a bigger cage in about a month. He goes outside just fine when he's out there, but still comes inside to his cage and acts like he can't hold it. I just can't stand the smell and he loves to eat it too. With how much he goes out side, this shouldn't justify this behavior.

People say it's all the low quality parts of an animal. My dog's food has chicken by products and Chicken as the two main ingridients. But I dont get it. In thw wild don't wolves eat every part of their prey? they are pretty healthy.

Most dog sites claim that the chow chow makes a loyal companion, but my folks say that it's vicious. I can't make up my mind about getting one because I can't help but fall for that teddy dog yet at the same time I'm afraid that getting one would do more harm than good in my household. I've already prepared my home (I'm living by myself and my lifestyle's pretty laid-back) before considering the possibility of getting a canine companion. Help! =(

I have a 4 month old Standard Poodle. Everytime she gets in the car, she starts drooling and then throws up. I think it's because she associates the car with bad things such as the vet or groomer and is scared, but i'm not sure.

SO my dog is a 1 year old male shih tzu. Ever since he was young he loves to play with all kinds of toys (balls, ropes, squeeky things, bones, etc.) We love playing with him. Anyway whenever I have something in my hand that he wants (liek his ball or doll or something) he will bark at me like crazy until i give it to him. Its become verrrryy annoying because sometimes my nephew will come over and be playing with his own toys and the dog thinks its his toy so he barks at my 3 year old nephew til he gives it up. Ive tried saying no (in an aggressive, calm, assertive way) when he starts barking but he doesnt stop. Ive tried just not giving up but he ends up barking for like 2-3 minutes (which is a long time for my dog to stand here and bark at me) until i give up.
What can I do to fix this problem?

His name is Buddy. We found him wandering around about a year and a half ago. His previous owners didn't want him and said he had been abused before they got him. His left eye is permanently light as a result of this.
So anyway, what do you think?
