He's fine , he's only 6 mths and has a lot of growing to do yet. Labs are puppy's until around 2yrs old, so he has a long way to go until he is fully grown. Don't worry.

I think he's fine. A full-grown male is supposed to fall within this range: 22.5-24.5. That's the akc show standard. Your dog still has some time to grow, and will probably reach into that range. Even if he's a bit under, it's not that big a deal. Purebred dogs can vary a lot from the standard. Even with two parents that are champions you can get undersize dogs, or dogs with other differences from the standard. They're still great dogs, they're just not going to win dog shows and they shouldn't be bred. Only the very best one or two from a litter might have a chance of being breeding quality.

But who cares! You still have a wonderful dog!

Dogs do not reach their full adult size until the age of 2. They are considered puppies until that time. I wouldn't worry too much about it until then. He still has a yr and a half to grow. Try not to worry and just enjoy your new baby. I think he'll be fine.

It sounds normal--when we got our chocolate lab/Weimeraner mix, she was about coffee table height or a little taller, and Weimeraners tend to be taller. She's now about normal build, and weighs about 90 pounds.

If you want you lab to totally fill out don't have him neutered till he's at least a year old.
