Sorry for the repeat but I wanted to do it right by having pics available from the start this time.

We have a dog that came from the Humane Society. She is 5 and weighs 47 lbs. with natural tail and ears. She loves to keep her nose to the ground while on walks and has a bark that sounds like a sea lion when she's excited. They told us she was a B & T mix but I'm curious to the opinions of others, especially those of you more familiar with the breeds.

She is wonderful with kids and we love her no matter what kind of mutt she is.

To me she looks like a black and tan coon hound mix. She looks like a real sweet heart no matter what.

I think she is a mix of both. She has the Doberman face, but the markings are very strongly black and tan coonhound. She obviously loves to track, so that might be another point for the black and tan coonhound, but she could just be looking for a job to do. That would be more Doberman pincher. The bark sounds like a coonhound bark, though.

I would go with Doberman mixed with something smaller is she is only 47lbs. The shape of the face and the shape and fall of the ears looks like a natural ear Doberman but she is defiantly smaller. Black and Tan, Doberman, and most other black and tan dogs have the same pattern markings. A lot of the time shelters will list larger black floppy earred dogs as black and tan mixes because they feel people are more likely to adopt them than they are a Doberman mix.

Looks more like a coonhound, but doesn't quite have the big ears or size of a coonhound and her face kinda looks like it could be more dobbie.....Maybe she's a coonhound/doberman mix.

That's tough - the body and tail look like a hound... but I don't know. She sure is adorable though. I'd love to hug her. :)

I'll give you the links for the genetic testing again, since I know that's the only thing that will satisfy my curiosity about my mutt girl:

There are some genetic tests you can do to determine for sure what your dog is, one you have to do through your vet:
http://www.whatsmydog.com/mixed_breed_analysis/analysis/default.aspx

The other you can send in some saliva:
http://www.mmigenomics.com/products2a.html

Both tests will identify Doberman Pinscher, but not Black & Tan Coonhound. Good luck!

Looks like a pure Dobe to me. A Coonhound has much longer ears. The only thing that stumps me is her weight. Her weight is less than a female Dobe of her age would weigh and much less than a Coonhound would weigh. Although she looks pure Dobe to me, I don't think she is. But I don't think she has any Coonhound in her. Might be a little terrier of some sort in the background just judging by her size.

She looks like a Doberman mix.
She does not look like a black & tan.

That seal like baying bark sounds like a coonhound, it is very distinctive as is the low slung body and the nose to the ground bit.

If you wait about a year, there will be more genetic tests out for other breeds.

Oddly enough, even though he looks like one breed or another, he might be completely unrelated to both. You never can tell with dog genes.

she doesn't look much like a Doberman. Either a black and tan coonhound mix, or rottweiller mix

Looks like a mix.

The ears and tail are more like a hound. But her coloring is the exact same of what a doberman would look like.
