hi, i have a 5 month old doberman, i am in india, i read in many websites that one needs to give ivermectin injection to prevent dogs against heartworm disease,

can you please let me know if someone had this injected to your pets, we do not have easy access to vets, since i am in a remote area, the vets here are more oriented towards cattle so they do not seem updated,

please someone suggest when it can be given and about the lyme vaccine,

thanks in advance for your help

I went to a pet store, they were so rude. They had a great deal going on and they made me realize that I need a reliable breeder, but I don't know how to go about finding one. I've never owned a dog before. I NEED help.

Please help me in identifying this dog. We have had him since he was 5 weeks old in which he was slightly smaller than my 4lb 13 oz Pomeranian. Now, 3 months later, he is a medium size monster full of puppy energy!! :o)

We were told when we adopted him that he was part Terrier and part Chow. I found nothing to prove Chow, not one single black mark on the tongue and the fur is way too silky. I saw a pic of a Pyrenean Sheepdog at the vet and thought this represented him the most, but I am not convinced since these dogs typically do not grow their crown hair over their eyes and his markings are totally different.

In the house. She's potty-trained, but when she gets excited or nervous she runs and poop plops onto the floor. Also, sometimes we're just sitting on the couch and as she goes to jump off the couch poop flies out and she makes a break for the dog door (trying to make it in time)

Why is she doing this? And how can we get her to stop (without spanking)? Thanks so much!

Oh, also she is a Shih Tzu and 5 years old if this helps any. She's just recently started doing this over a couple months..occasionally a few years back (but it was in the car).

This neutered german shepherd mix is about 60 lbs. Any recommended food brands? Or other methods of feeding? I'm really looking for something healthy, but not beyond $400 a year.

When my Cavalier has a poo, she goes round in circles first, sniffing the floor. Usually it is over 20 circles, but can be up to 100. She has the first piece, sniffs it and then carries on doing the other piece/s still going round in (slower) circles. I'm surprised she doesn't go dizzy...she does it so fast. Does anybody else's dog do this or something equally as silly?

Ok any solutions? we've tried everything...like frontline and other med from the vet ,garlic, spray, giving them baths with flea shampoo, a powder for the carpet, but we can not just get rid of them and it's horrible, my mom has even tried a home remedy book...I was wondering if anyone new a solution they used that actually worked cause its so hard to give the big dogs a bath and everyone says u shouldnt give them a bath more than once or twice a week.. So any ideas?

K, I took my puppy to a dog washer's, brought him home, all was fine..then that night he broke out in a rash everywhere and was bleeding from his gums lots. We took him to the vets and they said that he lost so much blood that he needed a blood transfusion, so we had one done so his blood will start clotting and he would stop bleeding. But, when got him home, he kept on bleeding, so we did another one, and he's on vitamin K, Antibiotics and steriods(they think he has a clotting problem) now he won't eat, or drink, we have to hydrate him through a med dropper. I am on my last straw and dont' know what else to do, the docs dont' know what's wrong, and think he may have gotten into some rat poison at the washers. So what I'm asking is if anybody has any idea or suggestions.....esp to help him start clotting?! Anyone Pleaz?!

My vet says as long as she is healthy and comes in heat it's OK to breed her. Other toy breeders have said after 5 is too old. Just wondering what other people think and/or have done?

I understand that there are many irresponsible pet owners and unwanted litters, and that there are some long term health benefits, but then why are there requirments that a dog not be fixed for show?

My heart borke when I saw Ellen cry over Iggy and the 2 little girls that lost what would have become their "Best Friend" I understand that some people are mean to animals after they get them home and they become more than they bargained for...This little dog would have had The best home he could have possibly gotten...I guess this places "Rules" were more important than the loving family this lucky little dog had the chance to get....Give the dog back...PLEASE!!!!

Has anyone read that story about Ellen Degeneres and the dog she gave away? Seriously, that has to be the wrongest thing i have ever heard! At what point does a volunteer organization part ways with a dog? I know they have that policy of giving the dog back for a reason, but come on! That was heartless. That dog belonged to Ellen Degeneres in my opinion, that contract shouldn't hold up.
